SLEAZY EX-BOYFRIENDS
A few months later, some restless nights and many meditations later, I received word that Anakin would also finally return to Coruscant after being away on a lengthy tour of duty. I had made plans to meet him and Padmé at what was supposed to be their home, but was Padmé's apartment when she is here on planet or whatever in the Force the place is. Only, after receiving word to report to the Jedi Council, I thought better of seeing them for a reunion.
Not that I am just as excited to see them both, but I know a certain senator is desperate for some time alone with her husband after all this time. There was no way I would be caught dead in a room with all that pent-up energy between them.
"I've been summoned?" I ask, entering the council chamber in the Jedi Temple, where the Masters appear to have been waiting for me.
"Involved with the Separatists, the Banking Clan is. Discover the truth in this matter, we must," Master Yoda informed me, and in truth, the news did not shock me.
"We need Senator Amidala to spy on Senator Clovis of the banking delegation," Obi-Wan continues to explain to me. "Although, I am not sure how we can change her mind, seeing as she already refused when Master Yoda asked her."
"That is why we asked you to summon both Skywalkers," Master Windu says to Obi-Wan.
"I have been signaling him all night," Obi-Wan admits before stroking his beard in thought. "I don't know where he could be."
Well, shit.
"I'm sure it's nothing. He may just be held up with his clone troops since his return," I try and stall for time. Luckily, they buy it.
The meeting is held off until Master Windu, Master Yoda, and Obi-Wan bring me to a separate meeting room while we wait for Anakin's arrival after he finally pings Obi-Wan that he is on his way.
"Sorry I'm late!" Anakin apologizes breathlessly when he bursts into the room. "What's going on?" He asks, not even bothering with making an excuse for his delay.
Probably for the best.
"We believe Senator Clovis is conspiring with the Separatists. We need to find out what he's planning," Master Windu explains to Anakin, having already given me a quick rundown of the situation back in the Council room.
"Do you want me to interrogate him, Master?" Anakin asks, and I quickly frown.
"He's not a proven criminal yet," I speak up in a warning.
