A PADAWAN IN WAR

Ten years of endless training, all for this one moment.

"Step forward Padawan," Master Yoda announced. His voice bounced off the walls in the Hall of Knighthood.

I followed his command, approaching him in the sacred room, and leaving my Knighted brother's side. Only since his name came first alphabetically.

Also meaning Anakin would forever remind me that he was a Knight first.

The Jedi Knights around me all stood with their hoods covering their faces as I knelt before them in the center of the room. The darkness is swallowed as the room bursts into colorful hues of blues and greens as the Jedi all ignite their lightsabers, pointing them in my direction. I bowed in anticipation for my Master to recite the practiced words.

"Serenity Skywalker. By the right of the Council. By the will of the Force. Dub thee I do. Jedi," Master Yoda declared, lowering his blade to my shoulders before raising the blade in one swift moment, my Padawan braid falling to the floor. "Knight of the Republic."

"My Padawan, well done," Master Yoda then whispered, placing his hand on my shoulder. His eyes gleamed proudly at me.

"Thank you, Master," I respectfully bowed my head toward him before shocking the other Jedi as I quickly scooped my Master in a warm embrace. Thankfully my Master wasn't like most and didn't even hesitate to return my embrace.

When I stood at my feet, a pair of warm blue eyes met mine. The small smile he presented me was returned but just as he took a step forward, he was immediately cut off.

"Yeah, Sere!" Anakin shouted, sprinting forward as he scooped me off my feet in a chest crushing hug. Master Windu shot him a disproving look at his unceremonious outburst, but I couldn't hold back a small chuckle which honestly sounded more like a wheeze. "We did it," Anakin whispered to me in triumph, setting me back on the ground as Master Windu approached us.

"Congratulations young Skywalkers. I look forward to all you will accomplish," he told us.

I could have sworn there was a small twinkle in his eyes as he shook my hand.

"Was it just me or did his attempt at a happy expression come off as more terrifying than joyous?" Anakin whispered in my ear, but I hardly paid attention to him. My focus has been captured by two other Padawans running up.

"I can't believe you did it, Serenity!" My favorite ginger greeted me with a tight hug as a green-skinned Neutalian quickly followed in her footsteps.
