Y/N's POV

Another year of high school. Three more to go.

Sighing, I got out of bed and got ready for the first day of school, again.

When I finish getting ready, I run downstairs and quickly put waffles into the toaster. Dad wasn't awake yet, nor was he going to be until a while. He worked night shifts, so he'd sleep all day. It was a little hard for me, since I basically had to raise myself, but I knew he had to do what he had to do to keep me under a roof and to have food on the table.

The sound of the waffles popping out of the toaster pulled me out of my train of thought. I stuffed the waffles into my mouth, grabbed my bag, and left.

The first day of school was always chaos. It was a little better this year though, since I knew what I was doing. Unlike last year.

Sighing, I push through the crowds of people to check the list of students. Once I find my name, I look to the right of it. This year, my homeroom was on the top floor. Meaning more walking up stairs every morning.

I sigh and make my way up to homeroom. Once I find an empty desk, I sit down and take a look around the classroom, seeing a few familiar faces.

The bell rung, and the teacher came running into the classroom. "Hello, class! Welcome back to Phoenix Drop High! My name's Mr. Ewell and I'll be your homeroom teacher for your sophomore year! Unless, of course, you get your schedule changed."

The classroom stared at him blankly. He was a happy fellow. Let's see if he'll manage to stay happy throughout the whole year.

"Now, class! In order to make sure you're all in the right place, I have to take role! You probably already know how this goes, but I'll go over the rules anyway! Juuuust in case!"

It took him about five minutes to explain to the class that when you hear your name being called, you have to say "here" and raise your hand.

"Y/N L/N!"

"Here." I sigh and raise my hand.

Mr. Ewell smiles at you. "What a beautiful name, Y/N!."

Before I could say 'thank you', he moves on to the next name.

I sigh and watch the sophomores talk about their summer's to their peers. Ivy was talking to Garroth about how she babysat all summer and about how she was good with kids and how one day she'd want to have kids with him.

Gross.

Garroth looked uncomfortable. There was nothing I could do about it, though. It'd just look plain weird if a total stranger walked up to them and told Ivy to stop or whatever. Neither of them knew me.

"Now, children! Er- teenagers! Here are your schedules!"

Once I was handed mine, I examined it. Math, biology, PE, lunch, history, english, and lastly spanish. It wasn't the funnest schedule, but it would do.

"Now, students. Who would want to participate in the second freshman orientation~? You basically get the rest of the day off!"

I immediately raised my hand. Although I thought second freshman orientation was stupid, I wanted to help out the little freshman. And the before summer freshman orientation was optional. This one was mandatory. New faces would be there. New people.

"Ah! Okay! So. Garroth Ro'Meave! Katelyn Firefist and Y/N L/N. You three may go!"

The three of us walked out of the classroom and headed straight for the cafeteria. Katelyn and Garroth made small talk about their freshman year while we walked there. I stayed behind. I knew Katelyn. We had a science project together last year. She had a One Direction poster under her bed, and I had found it while I was at her house working on the project with her. I guess it was her top most secret, because once we finished the project, she told me she didn't wanna see my face again.
