Laurance's POV
"Laurance. What the hell are we supposed to get Ivy? She's rich. She probably has everything." (Y/n) whines.
We were at the mall, both of us searching for a gift to be able to attend Ivy's party.
Even though she protests against it, I think she really wants to go to the party. Maybe she's never experienced a high school party.
I was just here because I want to spend time with her. I'm always the happiest when I'm around her. Its kinda odd, but I like it.
I answer her question with a shrug.
"Maybe some makeup. She needs it to cover up her face." She grunts.
I laugh. "I don't know, (Y/n). Makeup is pretty expensive."
"And how would you know?" She raises her left eyebrow. "You into makeup? Not that there's anything wrong with that. You just don't seem like the type of guy."
"No, I'm not really into makeup. I kinda don't understand it. But my sister Cadenza is really into stuff that has to do with clothes, hair, beauty and stuff like that. She's always complaining about how expensive Sephora is."
"Well she's not wrong. $50 for foundation, $30 for eyeliner, $40 for eyeshadow pallets, $30 for setting spray, $20 for lipsticks. The list goes on, man. It's fucking insane." (Y/n) says.
"Do you wear makeup?" I ask.
She shrugs. "On the occasion."
"Will you be wearing makeup at the party?"
"Dunno. Probably." She shrugs.
"I don't think you should." I frown.
"Why not?" She makes a face. Like, an offended face, kind of.
"I like your face."
She laughs. "What did you just say?"
My face heats up and turns red as I realize what I've just said. "N-nothing!"
"Yeah, right." She grins. A shade of very light pink was spread across her cheeks.
I sigh as a silence grows between us.
"So, uh. I think I'll just be getting Ivy a perfume or something." (Y/n) says. "It'd make her stink way less."
I chuckle a bit. "Your grudge against her is hilarious."
"I'm not holding a grudge against Ivy. I just simply dislike her." She says.
I follow as she walks into victoria secret. I felt a little awkward being around ladies' undergarments and such, but I guess it was whatever.
(Y/n) grabs a cocunut scented perfume and hands it to me. Then she grabs a strawberry scented one. "We'll just both get her perfume, so we can just spend the rest of the day hanging out instead of looking for something to get her."
I grin. "Sounds like a plan."
We head to the cash registers and pay for the perfumes, then head out of victoria secret.
"So, are you excited for the party?" I ask.
"Uhm. Well, I don't know. I've never been to a party, really. I don't know what they're like. I mean, unless they're like family parties."
I laugh. "No, they're nothing like family parties. There's like, beer and stuff."
She looks at me with her perfect (eye color) eyes. "Family parties have beer."
"Okay. But do family parties have a drunk Garroth on a table screaming out vines with his shirt off?" I grin.
"Holy shit that sounds like a great time." She laughs.
"He does it every time." I laugh.
"Do you drink?"
I shrug. "Not very much. It's kinda gross."
"I've never drank before. Kinda wanna try it." (Y/n) looked over at the food court, then back at me.
"You can try it at the party. Anyway, are you hungry?" I ask.
"Little bit."
"Okay. I'll get us food. On me." I smile and lead the way to the food court. "What are you gonna want?"
"Laurance, you don't have to buy me my food. I have money." She reassured me.
I didn't give in. "I want to."
After about 30 seconds of her saying I didn't need to buy her food, she gave in.
We got (favourite fast food) and sat down at the very corner. I noticed that (y/n) liked corners. She had probably just gotten used to them.
"You see those people over there?" (Y/n) pointed at a girl with pale skin and ginger hair and a boy with darker skin and black hair. "They like each other."
I looked at her strangely. "How can you tell?"
She shrugged. "Body language. And its obvious. Look at how tense both of them are, they're probably on a date, maybe. She's also very insecure. You can tell because she keeps covering her mouth with her arm."
"Jeez. You're observant."
She shrugged. "It's a natural thing to be observant for me."
"Okay. Well. When we weren't friends, what did you think I was like?" I ask.
She looked at me. "Well. The beginning of last year, i thought you were really shy and stuff. But as the months passed and puberty turned you into a gorgeous boy, your confidence levels seemed to have raised because of all the girls who basically loved you."
"Gorgeous boy?" I smiled.
She reached over and ruffled my brown hair. "Yes. I think you're gorgeous."
My cheeks turned a bright red. (Y/n) noticed and smirked.
"What? Sensitive to compliments?"
"Uhm. No. I just- uh. I don't know."
She grinned. "So. Did you ever notice me around school?"
I stopped to think. "I remember having you in some classes. You were always very quiet. Like, when the teachers would take role, and you'd say 'here' you always said it in such a small voice. You always looked lonely. I honestly always hoped someone would step up and be your friend. But no one ever did. So when we got to be partners in biology, I took advantage of that. I wanted to be your friend."
She smiled. It was the brightest smile I've ever seen.
"I appreciate you, Laurance." She said.
