Kol and I walked side by side into my school's gymnasium. He was carrying a large tote full of decorations for tonight's decade dance. Matt had mentioned this morning that he was supposed to pick up Rebekah and these decorations but she was ignoring his calls. Kol thought he'd do Matt a favor and check on his sister. I went along and when we got there she claimed she was too busy getting herself ready for the dance that she couldn't come setup, but asked us to take the decorations.
And being the nice people we are, we agreed. So here I was headed towards Caroline, head of the committee. She was of course with Elena at the moment. Their backs to us as they talked rather loudly. "Jeremy's got a lot on his mind. The whole thing with Alaric has got him really stressed out," Elena said.
"You sure it had nothing to do with witnessing you and Damon getting hot and heavy in a skeevy motel?" Caroline retorted.
"I didn't tell you that so you could torture me with it--" Elena was replying as we reached them. Kol clearing his throat to stop their conversation.
My jaw was tightened, trying to keep my face straight. "Pardon us, ladies," Kol spoke up as the two turned around with shocked faces.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Lottie--" Caroline began speaking but I shook my head at her.
"We're just here to drop off decorations," I forced a smile. Elena avoiding eye contact while I couldn't stop glaring at the side of her face. Her stupid, annoying ass face. Where her whore lips--
"Sorry my sister couldn't make it," Kol said, interrupting my train of thought and talking over the awkward silence. "We're gonna go now though."
"Hey!" Matt greeted loudly, coming up to the side of us with Jeremy.
"Hey, man," Kol smiled easily. "Jeremy, mate. I had heard that you moved back. Perfect timing. We should hang out."
"No," Elena stated strongly. "He's not hanging out with you. Ever."
"Elena, I can handle myself," Jeremy frowned at his older sister. Then he looked at Kol, furrowing his brows. "You used me. You lied, don't call me mate. Don't call me--"
"I didn't lie, Jeremy," Kol said. He then wrapped an arm around my waist. "I can help you get better at baseball. I do like comics. And this is the gorgeous girl I was telling you I really liked."
Jeremy looked at my blushing face, his brows raising. "Wait. You two?" He asked. "What happened while I was gone? You and Damon aren't together anymore, Lottie?"
"No. He's into kissing your sister," I smiled bitterly. Kol's hand rested on my small love handle, his thumb rubbing up and down comfortingly.
"You really mean it?" Jeremy asked Kol. "We can play baseball. Because I thought we were cool. And I was glad that I made a friend."
"Dude, yes," Kol grinned.
"Yeah, Kol is super cool. He promised to play video games with me later. I just gotta show him how," Matt chuckled.
Kol chuckled, shrugging. A small smile graced my lips as I stared at him after seeing my twin look so happy. He needs a guy friend, especially since Tyler was gone. "Are we mates, or are we mates?" Kol asked, raising a brow at Jeremy who grinned, nodding.
