Chasing Cars

I grabbed my towel, drying off quickly before wrapping it around my body. I took my time showering, assuming Kol would just join me. But surprisingly he didn't. I slipped out the en-suite to find the room empty. "Kol?" I frowned in confusion, I even checked our small balcony. Nothing.

The TV was still on though. Maybe he went downstairs for a snack. I checked my phone to see if he texted to let me know he was slipping out and why. But there was nothing. I rolled my eyes in annoyance, when he gets back we are going to have to have a serious talk about communication.

I took my time getting ready for bed. I rubbed lotion all over my body. Slipped on my favorite navy and white plaid pajama pants, they were silky and smooth and Kol said they felt good when our legs touched. Then I put on one of Kol's t-shirts. Brushed my teeth and did my nighttime skincare routine.

About twenty minutes. That's how long it took. But still my boyfriend hasn't came back to the room. So I checked my phone again. No text. No call. Would it be overreacting to call him? I wasn't trying to get worked up. He was probably downstairs chatting with people like he does. He was a talker, charming and loving to share his experiences with people. Especially the elderly doorman to the hotel, they seem to converse for handful of minutes at a time.

Maybe just a little text. Harmless. And he won't know I was getting worried. He says I worry too much. But in my defense tonight I've been on edge. Rebekah handed over her dagger! Okay, deep breath. Let's not panic.

Baby, where are you??? I want you to come to bed. Please? 🥺 — Me

2 minutes later. Not read. No response. No big deal.

I slipped into bed, cut off the lights, changed the tv channel to something Kol and I both liked. The second half of Jersey Shore I turned on had ended and I still had no response from Kol. And now I was irritated. Seriously, communication was important and he knows how I feel about it. Don't just sneak out and not say anything on top of not come back!

Finally I called him. Riiing. Riiing. Riiing. Riii— On the fourth ring he picked up luckily, "I'm a little busy, Charlie," my boyfriend said and my brows shot up in disbelief. That's how he's gonna answer my call?

"Busy?" I scoffed. "Kol, where are you?"

"Out."

"Out where?" I questioned, raising my voice. But then I heard a grunt. In pain. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

"I'll be home soon, princess."

"Baby—"

"I love you."

"I lo—" click. Beeeeep. Dial tone. He hung up. So I called him right back. Rage boiling in me. He was so infuriating when he wanted to be. I immediately got a busy signal. Really?! "Ugh, bastard," I cursed under my breath.

Hurry home, Kol. So I can yell at you — Me

You're so annoying — Me
