"I need a minute to breathe you in,
Just a second to taste your skin.
I just gotta, I just gotta,
Feel you here right next to me."

I tugged on the tight long black dress Caroline picked out for me. Once I got it on, I stepped out the dressing room asking Caroline to zip it up. I stepped in front of the mirror and shook my head. There was a huge plunge in the front I didn't fill out and the bottom was so long it pooled at my feet. "No," Caroline stated.
"I only have the white and yellow floral one then the satin green to go," I told her. She nodded and ushered me back into the dressing room. We were trying on dresses on this Friday afternoon after school because Sunday was the Miss Mystic Falls pageant. Being the winner last year, I was co-hosting the event with Mrs. Lockwood. Of course Caroline was party of the organizing committee or whatever she called it.
"Which one are you trying on?" Caroline asked from the other side of the door.
"Green. Oh! This is the one," I said as I slipped my arm through the only sleeve which had a nice flattering slit over my bicep. I wanted a long dress over a short one. And this was not only stunning on the hanger, but on me. I loved it. I stepped out the dressing room, hooking the belt on it around my waist tight. Caroline gasped and grinned.
"Love!" She exclaimed. She zipped it up in the back and made me twirl. "Okay, you need black heels to match the belt."
"I know just the pair," I assured her. She nodded and then complimented me once more before rushing me to change out of this so we can hurry off to The Grill for dinner.
We both quickly bought our dresses, drove together to The Grill in her car, and ordered sodas and our meals. It was nice to hang out with my friend. Feels like we haven't in awhile. "So how's Kol?" She asked me.
I frowned immediately. "I don't know," I mumbled, taking a sip of my soda as I tried to think of what to say about him. Despite the fact we haven't talked in two days, today going to make it the third day. He's been gone for two weeks as of this Sunday.
"What do you mean? Are you guys fighting? Lottie, no. He's great! And you've got your spunk back—"
"No, no. We're not fighting. He's in Haiti or at least he was when we talked a couple days ago. But even that was a short conversation and I wasn't stopping him from hanging up because I got so irritated with all these giggling girls in his background," I grumbled.
"What?" She gaped at me.
"He's hanging with witches. And he hasn't answered any of my calls, or replied to my text. I think his phone may be dead now though because it's going straight to voicemail," I huffed, blowing at my bangs.
"Did he say when he'd be back?"
"I asked him last Friday to be back by the time for the pageant. He said no problem. And it was all fine. But now I haven't talked to him since Tuesday."
"Wow. He's a jerk."
"Mhm," I hummed. A pout sat on my lips as I aimlessly drew shapes with my finger along the dark wooden table. "I miss him."
"If he said he's coming Sunday, then he is. He wouldn't promise and not mean it, right? I'm sure he's just being a typical guy. Busy and not understanding to check in with you," she said and I nodded.
