Chapter 15

Eren had been called to the capital. His life is being put on the line. The military police not seeming to care about the things that we did accomplish. Levi was in the room with me as we waited for Erwin to come, in order to tell us what our next method of attack was going to be

"Captain." Eren started "I'm sorry." He said referring to the recent expedition

Levi sat silent drinking his tea while I continued to look down not responding

"I'm sorry that I made the wrong choice that time." He said keeping his head down showing respect "Things would have never gone that way, you wouldn't have gotten injured-"

"Eren." I said looking up at him "There's something you need to understand. War is war. During it, you experience pains, tears, loses, and wounds that sometimes never heal."

Eren kept his head down, still mourning over the loss of our squad

"I'm not done." I said as his head sprung back up "Listen. In war, everyone is the same. When I am alone, the question always seems to come up. 'How did things get to be this way?' Our minds and bodies are tired, our freedom, stolen away from us, like animals. We've lost our self confidence as well."

Eren looked at me with sad eyes as I continued

"If people knew that we would end up like this, i'm pretty damn sure that no one would want to go to war. Everyone is burdened by something. And they plunge head-first into it. In most cases, that is not their own will, usually it's their environment's or other people's expectations, and that leaves them no choice." I said just feeling the emotions flow out of me like a stream "But the hell of those who choose to burden themselves see is different. On the other side of that hell they can see something. That thing they see might be hope, or it could be just more hell."

Eren was now looking at me with astonished eyes, as if he had just learned everything about the world all at once

"But you won't know, unless you move forward."

Just then the door to the room opened as Erwin and other soldiers stepped in

"Armin. And Mikasa." Eren said looking at two cadets next to the commander

"We discovered an entity who we think is the female titan." Erwin started taking a seat at the table "Normally, we belong to the military police in the Stohes district. This time, however, we've devised a plan to capture the female titan. On that day, ERen and I will be summoned to the royal capital."

Eren looked at him with terror in his eyes of what that might entail us to do

"In the current conditions, we can't avoid handing Eren over. Otherwise it will be difficult to draw out the ones who are planning to destroy the walls. It could also potentially lead to the destruction of the human race. This plan was devised in order to break through all the difficulties we're experiencing. We will gamble everything on this. We have no other choice left." Erwin said making everyone a bit uncomfortable "Basically, when the military police begin to escort us, Eren will escape in Stohes. Our goal is to draw out and capture the target. Avoiding giant transformation underground if possible. If we can use Eren as bait to capture the servants of the giants who are trying to destroy the walls, then we won't need to be summoned. The royal capital should focus more on protecting the walls.

Eren looked to his friend cadets who gave him a terrified look

"About the female titan." I said trying to make Erwin spill the beans about who it is

"Armin's the one who inferred it. He's also the one who proposed this plan. I decided to go with it." Erwin started looking towards the other male cadet "According to his hypothesis, which he got from making contact with the female titan, there is a possibility that it is among the 104th trainee squad. She is thought to be the one who killed the two titans that were kept alive. And her name is, Annie Leonhardt." Erwin said
