"What's Ymir's condition?" I asked watching the cadet being lifted by a pulley. Her right arm and leg completely gone.

"Her arm and leg were bitten off, and her insides are more like scrambled eggs than anything." I watched her being pulled up and immediately, the flashbacks started coming back.

*Flashback around a year after joining the survey corps*

I sat there, on a small boulder, eating my lunch. No one else was around, it was just me and the surroundings. A voice from behind startled me

"Is it just you?" The voice asked, I turned around to see the commander. "Where's Levi?"

I turned back towards the area as he sat next to me on the rock.

"Levi doesn't like to eat outside, says he might get a cold."

Erwin chuckled a bit "Yeah, I have heard that he's not the one to handle getting sick."

I smiled at my own comment as he also continued to eat his own food.

"You don't get along with the other soldiers do you?" He asked me, keeping his head down. I continued staring at the ground, trying to avoid any conversation if possible, knowing that I had tried to kill him before. "Is it because of the-"

"Commander!" I yelled, completely disregarding his status "Forgive me." I said regretting my tone "With all due respect, my 'special ability' is exactly why I don't get along with the other soldiers. All they see me as is a monster. By this point, everyone in the corps knows the secret. It's not a preserved fact. It's pure, common knowledge."

Erwin sat, looking at me for a few minutes before saying anything else.

"You know." He said turning to the ground again "This may seem ironic, but you may be one of my favorites out of the soldiers." He said, being completely opposite of what I thought he was going to say "I know it's bad for a commander to say that he has favorites out of his underlings, but I clearly see something else in you that I don't see in anyone else. That thing might be recklessness, it might be strength, it might be intellect, but what I do know, is that you are someone in the survey corps that no one can ever hope to be like. You have a power that exceeds that of everyone else in the world."

I blushed at his words, forgetting that it was disrespectful and immediately covered my face with my hand

He chuckled again as he saw my reaction "Or maybe it's just shyness."

*End of flashback*

"Eren!" I yelled, watching the two titans fall, the colossal titan standing right in front of us. If I titanized, it wouldn't be enough strength to take it down. Our 3D maneuver gear was completely ineffective against it.

"Ava!" Hanji yelled startling me "H- E- w- t-" Everything went black

"Y- b- il- ki- y- wh- y- st-" A staticky, almost robotic voice flashed through my head before lightning clouded my vision

I gasped waking up, covered in sweat. I looked around to see Levi in front of me. I sat up immediately as he turned to me shocked. I was on top of the wall, still where I last remembered being.

"Ava stop!" He said putting his hands on my shoulders "We don't know the extent of your injuries!"

I looked down to see steam pouring out of just about every part of my body. I suddenly felt pain as if a thousand hot knives were driven into my skin. I fell right onto my back holding my sides and chest.

"Get a medic!" Levi yelled, watching me in pain.

*Later*

The pain had mostly subsided, but deep burns were now visible on my skin. I made an attempt to move but the doctor stopped me from doing so. He was much older than me. Brown, raggedy hair ran down his face and neck. He had a white lab coat on and came prepared with medical supplies. I recognized him, he was a retired survey corps veteran who served for 20 years.
