More Than Friends

"Stop it" you nudge him playfully. "So who are you taking to the dance??" you shrug. "Oh come on Y/n..don't tell me you're not going" you bite your lip and look down. "I NEED my best friend there!! Please!!" he begs and you finally give in. "Ugh..fine" he smiles. You walk home and wave to each other as you go inside. You and Jonah have been friends since you were toddlers. You grew up together and have been neighbours forever. It also didn't help that you started to catch feelings for him in 9th grade and now it's senior year. You didn't want to risk your friendship and plus...he was dating Alyssa. She's a popular cheerleader. There is a nice side to her but she's too bossy for you. You sit on your bed and look out the window to see Jonah playing his guitar. You smile and continue doing your English homework. You hear a whistle and walk to your window. Jonah has his window open and is gesturing you to open yours. "What's up stranger??" you lean your elbows on the windowsill. "Annie's Parlour??" you smile and nod. You head outside and see Jonah standing there, leaning against the fence post. "Took you long enough" he jokes and you roll your eyes. "Shut up" he chuckles and you walk there. Annie's Parlour has been yours and Jonah's spot since 5th grade. You knew the owner and he loved you two. You would head over after school almost everyday. That is until Alyssa came along. You sit down across from Jonah. The owner comes over and smiles at you. "A chocolate for Y/n and vanilla for Jonah" he smiles. "Thanks James" you smile up at him and he heads back to his other customers. "You are so basic" you laugh and Jonah shrugs. You see him smirking and you give him a questionable look. "You have a little something right-" he wipes whip cream on your nose and you roll your eyes. "How have I not learned by now??" you giggle and he laughs. "I don't know. But your face is priceless every time" he laughs, then stops and smiles behind you. You look and see Alyssa walking over to your table. "Hey Baby" she kisses him and sits beside him. "Y/n" she smiles and you bite the inside of your cheek. As much as you hated her, she was Jonah's girlfriend. Even if you have liked him since forever. You look down and see James come over. "And what might you have??" he smiles and she perks up. "A strawberry milkshake please. Because it's sweet like me" she winks at Jonah and you almost spit out your drink. Jonah looks down embarrassed and you are wide eyed. Her drink comes and you finish yours. "I should get going" You stand up and Jonah gives you a concerned look. "I have English homework that I have to finish" you faintly smile and Jonah looks you up and down. You walk out and turn the corner. You are pulled back and see Jonah standing in front of you.

"Why did you lie??" you bite your lip. "I didn't.." he shakes his head and sighs. "You always look down slightly and tilt your head slightly to the left when you lie. I know you Y/n" you sigh and are impressed that he knew that. "The truth is Alyssa-" "I what??" she is smiling but her death glare is piercing through you. "Alyssa did great performing at the football game last night..and you should spend quality time together" you smile even tho it's killing you. "Are you sure??" Jonah asks and you nod. "Go, have fun" they start walking and you sigh. You wanted to tell him how much you were falling for him each day. You wanted to tell him how much he means to you. You wanted to tell him that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him...but he had her. The next day at school, you were heading to Biology. You open the door and find a couple kissing. "Oh..i'm sor-" you stand there wide eyed. "Alyssa?!" she goes wide eyed. "Don't tell Jonah..please" she stands up and walks over to you. The captain of the football team leaves and it's just you two. "If you tell him. I will end you" she walks out and you are left there shooketh. (You aren't even shook you are WAY past shook!! You are SHOOKETH!!!!) The bell rings and people start going into class. You try to avoid Jonah the rest of the day until you see him leaning against your fence post. "Where were you all day?! I was so worried!!" he runs up to you but you walk right past him. He stops you and puts his hands on your shoulder. "What's wrong??" worry is all over his face and you sigh. "It just wasn't a good day..." technically you weren't lying. He pulls you into a hug and you smile at the scent of his cologne. It's like all your worries disappear and you two are the only ones that matter. "Come on" he drags you to his house and up to his room. You put your bag on his desk chair and sit on his bed. He goes into his closet and comes out with a movie. You smile and he puts it in. You both lay on the bed and you rest your head on his shoulder. He pulls you close, while still having his attention on the movie. You had to tell him....he deserves to know. But if you told him that also comes with a price. You decide to set it aside and just enjoy cuddling with Jonah.
