Journey

Kagat ko ang labi ko habang nakatitig sa mga bulaklak na nakpatong sa ibabaw ng upuan ko ng mabuksan ko ang front seat ng sasakyan.  Napatingin ako sa lalaking nakaakbay sakin at binigyan niya ako ng isang matamis na ngiti bago kinuha ang mga bulaklak.

"pasensya ka na kung yan lang ang Kaya kong ibigay" mahina niyang sambit habang inaabot sa akin ang hawak niya

Hindi ko mapigilan ang Mapangiti sa nakikita ko.  Masaya ako kahit mga ordinaryo lang ang mga bulaklak na ito.  Merong Santan, gumamela,  yellow bells,  ferns at iba pang mga bulaklak na makikita mo sa mga gilid ng kalsada. Ito ang unang beses ko na makatanggap ng bulaklak galing sa isang lalaki at hindi ko alam kung ano ang sasabihin Lalo na't yung sa taong mahal ko mismo nanggaling ang mga ito.

"I-- I don't know what to say " I whispered as I stare at the flowers he gave

"you don't have to say something" he said that made me look at him "as long as I can see that you're happy it's more than enough for me"

I bit my tongue as I become teary and immediately pull him into a tight hug.  Nung una ay hindi sya gumalaw pero unti unti niya rin ako niyakap ng mahigpit na Parang ayaw na niya akong pakawalan "thank you" I whispered through his ear

He caressed my back before he gave me light kiss on my shoulder and bury his head between my neck " my pleasure " he murmured that made me smile

I don't  want this thing to end. I want us to be like this forever.

Kasalukuyan kami ngayon na bumabyahe patungo sa huling bayan na palabas ng probinsya na Malapit sa embassy.

"don't worry if the world gets better I promise to give you the most expensive flowers that you'll ever see." he said as he caught me again staring at the flowers he gave me yesterday

I smiled at him and looked back at the dying flowers "I'll be waiting for that to come"

My smile didn't fade away when he reached for my free hand and intertwined it with his . My heart suddenly jumped in and out with the picture of me and him holding each others hand while traveling.

"two more days to go and we'll be safe now " he announced

I nodded my head and smile back at him "I have a favor to ask if we'll get out from here" I heard him said and waited for his next sentence but he stopped the car and stared at me. I met his serious and soft eyes and kissed my hand.

"I want you to call me with my real name and change your last name with mine"

Oh my God.  Am I thinking the right thing?  Is he proposing?  Nagsimulang Tumibok ng mabilis ang puso ko at manginig ng tiyan ko sa kanyang mga Binitawang salita. Seryoso ba siya?

"wyle" I muttered under my breath

I saw him smile at me and grip my hand

"I like it when you call me by that but my real name sounds more better to my ears" he uttered

I bit my lip and we stared at each others eyes for a moment then he spoke "baby, are you willing to have my last name?" his eyes and tone were begging me to say yes but I don't know...

My breathing became heavy as I watched him took something in his pocket and the sparkling thing caught my attention and my mouth forms into a big Oh and covered it with my another hand.

"I saw this at my mom's jewelry box and I'm waiting for the right moment to give this to you... Ngayon Lang ako nagkaroon ng lakas para dito " he cleared his throat before he continue his sentence "I can't see my future without you baby, please be mine...  Let's have a journey together until the end. I can't promise that I wont hurt you cause Im no perfect but I can promise that I'll do my best to be the perfect partner you'll ever have... We're the only one who's left in this dying world but you gave me life and hope to live again"

He gently wiped my tears away and gave me a genuine smile " Zhari will you marry me after we leave this place?"
