The Little Unexpected Things

A Boy Or A Girl?!

Bella's P.O.V

Dr. Green walks in and smiles kindly at us. "Good afternoon, Bella. How are you feeling?"

"Great, I'm great." I lean back on the chair, pulling my shirt up to allow her access to my belly.

She turns to Edward. "And you?"

"Excited to know whether it's a boy or a girl. We can tell the gender by now, can we?" He asked excitedly. Little does she know, he's actually excited about who won our little bet.

"If little baby Cullen is not shy, we'll be able to tell the gender."

"Oh, wait!" Fuck, how could I forget? "Um, you can't tell us just yet."

Edward frowned but then it seem to catch up to him as well. "Ohhhh yeah, you can't." Dr. Green raises an eyebrow. Edward explains, "My sister is throwing a Gender Reveal party so we can't know until tomorrow."

"But if you could write it down in a piece of paper, that'd be great." I smile at her.

Dr. Green smiles and says, "That will be no problem. I see these gender reveal parties are really becoming a thing. Lets see." She presses a few buttons on her computer and goes through all the usual procedures we go through every time we come here. The gel doesn't seem as cold as before.

My heart flutters every time I look at the screen. I can see our baby clearer, with his little arms and legs. Oh god, he's sucking on his thumb! I could cry. She shifts the angle on the monitor and we see his whole little body. She takes a few pictures for us to take home. She then presses a final button that allows us to hear his heartbeat. It's strong and for a moment I feel it has a certain rhythm to it. My hand tightens around Edward's, small tears begin forming from the excitement.

"There it is." She takes a paper out and quickly scribbles the gender on a piece of paper, folding it and hands it to us. "Your baby is healthy, heart beat strong and everything looks great. Congratulations."

I take the little paper from her and say, "You sure this is 100% accurate?"

She nods. "I can assure you this is 100% accurate."

"Did you guys place the order?!" Alice shouted the moment we walked in the apartment. "Did you? Did you?"

"Jesus, Alice. We did."

"Though it took a great amount of will power not to look at the little paper," Edward said and then pointed at me. "I had to keep a cautious eye on her."

I drop my purse on the counter. "It was like holding a ticking time bomb!" I sit at the table with them and take a cookie. "I want tomorrow to come, I want to be proven right and finally know who is inside me."

Edward smiles. "Just a couple more hours. Where is everyone else?" He takes a cookie.

"Jasper and Emmett went go buy some decorations I need for tomorrow and Rosalie had a nail appointment." She takes a cookie. "Oh, Bella, I got you the perfect dress for tomorrow! It's blue and so pretty, you're gonna look so beautiful!"

I shake my head. "Well, I'm not big on party planning, so I'll let you two girls finish last minute details while I take a nap."

Edward leans back and crosses his arms over his chest. "Oh really? And what are you going to do while we're doing last minute details for our baby's gender reveal?"

I stand up and take a cookie. "The same thing I'll do tomorrow at the party, just stand there and look pretty." I wink an eye at him and walk away. "If you need me, which I hope you don't, I'll be sleeping on the couch."
