"I was meaning to ask you, you haven't given us a due date?"

"She has," Edward said with a chuckle.

"When?" I asked shocked. I look at Doctor Green. "You have?"

Dr. Green chuckles. "Yes, on our first appointment. It's okay to forget, but your baby should be due by the end of May. The 25th is the most certain."

Oh. "You have?" I ask again. "Man, I guess I really have been out of it."

"It's totally normal. So many things could be going through your head that you probably forgot, darling. Well, as I said, everything looks good and I'll see you two in a couple of weeks. And, if that little isn't too shy, we might be able to tell the gender. You both have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year."

"You too," Edward and I say at the same time.

She walks out and I straighten my shirt and look at Edward, "So, Jack In The Box it is?"

He smiles. "You're the boss."

A message from Jacob arrives.

I'm outside if you're ready.

No, I wasn't ready but I wasn't about to show him. What's with my need to prove to him that I'm fine?

Coming down.

I grab my coat and walk outside and tell Nina, my assistant that I'll be back shortly. I don't expect this to be a casual friends lunch. Who knows how he'll react. As I make my way down the lobby, I look down at myself. Yup, there's no hiding it now and from the looks of it, I won't be able to hide from Jacob who the father is. He'll be working at the office until his father comes back and half the office already knows. If it isn't by me, he'll certainly find out in our small cafeteria.

Jacob opens the door to his mustang when I walk out. The cold wind of a Seattle morning sends cold chills down my body and I find myself holding my belly as I make my way to his car. He has a surprised-slash-weird look on his face, just by the fact that I'm doing what I'm doing. Trust me, Jake, I surprised myself many times.

The drive is painfully silent. I wasn't in my comfort zone anymore. Normally at times like this, I'd reach for his phone and plug the stereo in and we'd both sing along with our hands joined together, but now I can't even look at the stereo. The drive is short, however, so the silence doesn't last much. We reach a small restaurant just two blocks from the office.

The Black Bear Dinner. Really? He brought me here?

When we make it inside, the smell of food and freshly made coffee invades my senses. Oh, I'd kill for a black coffee right now. Jacob walks up to the hostess, who immediately takes us to a booth, far in the back of the restaurant where there's only three couples eating. Once we reach the booth, I feel a little sweat forming in the back of my neck from either the warmth of this place or my body sweating from nervousness. I undo my coat and place it in the booth. When I look up, Jacob is staring at my belly over the white long sleeve shirt I am wearing like it's some kind of alien. My hand immediately touches it, as if my protecting it from his judging stare.

"How far are you?" He asked as I slid in the seat across from him.

"Four months," I tell him.

The waitress comes. Her eyes land on Jacob and a flirty smile creeps on the edges of her bright red lips. It's just a pretty face, woman. You see them every day. She hands him his menu first and when she turns to me, her eyes immediately fall on my belly and she practically shoves the menu in my hands.
