Te-osh suddenly stopped lowering the ship. "Katie, we were wrong! Look!" the alien shouted, pointing behind them. Katie turned her head to the larger galra ship. Indeed, they had miscalculated. The ion cannon was preparing to shoot. Te-osh grabbed the com. "Run away. Now. We can't bring the ship. Its too late. Get out now."

"Te-osh. Fly this ship in front of it. It's not as thick as that comet but it will delay the few, tinier lasers will make it past," Katie said. Te-osh stopped leaning over the panel.

"Are you crazy!? That's suicide! They already know! They'll try to block it! They will prepare to move it last minute!" the alien protested, shaking Katie's shoulder. Her resolve didn't change.

"Listen, we can escape on our drone after positioning it. It'll help those 250,000 people! What's our two lives over theirs!?" Katie cried, tears welling up. She didn't want to die before saving her mother, finding Shiro, and returning home, but sometimes you gotta do what you have to do.

"What about your mother!? What about your friend that obviously means more then just that to you!? That's right I had a talk with the pilot who was piloting the ship you road. He explained how you helped and your little issue!" Te-osh countered with anger in her eyes.

"Shiro and my mother will live without me, so can all those people. You can take that drone and leave. I'll pilot the ship," Katie hissed, not having any of this. "We don't have time!" She began to fly the ship towards the cannon.

"Katie! You can't do this!" Te-osh called as she tried to pry Katie away from the panel. The teen wouldn't budge. Katie couldn't tell what year it was, what day, or what month. She could tell what she needed to do in this crisis. That was this at this moment.

The ship was in position in no time despite Te-osh's efforts. Katie allowed herself to be pulled through the ship to the drone. They got in with only seconds to spare. They heard the ion cannon begin to build up at the point, knowing they had less then a minute left.

Te-osh slammed her foot on the petal and the drone came alive. They flew out of the ship just as the ion cannon blasted. The force blew the drone yards away from where they were. It was still powerful and left Katie in pain on the ground of the drone.

"Did it work?" she asked. Te-osh didn't reply. Katie began to worry that it hadn't worked, but Te-osh laughed, a hand on her forehead.

"It worked. It actually worked! Only a portion of the planet was effected, that ship is in smithereens! I bet the galra are so frustrated that their precious cannon was blocked twice!" the alien cheered, turning to Katie. "You did it! You saved more people then if we hadn't done a-"

She froze when her eyes finally landed on Katie. Katie was still on the ground with her eyes closed. "Relax, I'm not dead," Katie muttered and heard Te-osh sigh. "Fooled ya, huh?"

"Yeah... now, let's try to evacuate- What!?" Te-osh shouted. Katie stood up to see what had surprised her alien friend. The cannon was ready again, this time an even larger blast was being prepared. One half the size of the planet. The planet may be the size of Mars, but that was still pretty big.

"How much larger do they get!?" Katie yelled, falling back down in frustration. Te-osh went straight to action. She try to contact everyone and tell them they really needed to evacuate, but the com was intercepted and stopped. Instead a voice Katie remembered well spoke back.

"You're not stopping us this time, foolish children! I will destroy your precious outpost and squash this rebellion," the voice announced. It was the voice of Haggar, the witch who stood next to Zarkon when Katie and Shiro first arrived at his ship.

The two looked at each other. They couldn't do much. The com between the two clicked when it ended. "What are we going to do!?" they both cried, looking out at the planet. Te-osh tried to fly away, but the droid wouldn't budge.

"It's out. The blast broke the engine. We can't do a thing!" Te-osh muttered and slammed her fist on the console. "And our communication is down. Great, we're stuck until we see another rebel ship, who are all below rescuing stranded people!"

Te-osh was right. Their situation wasn't ideal. It was terrible. All they could do was watch the ion cannon quickly build a stronger and larger blast then then the three from before. It was like those earlier shots were just warm ups! "I can fix the transmission," Katie said, reaching to look at it.

Katie felt useless when she noticed the ion cannon had fired the giant purple blast, hitting the planet. A strong reaction force pushed them farther out. The two looked at the planet looming before them as soon as the brightness went away.

Haggar was right. She won this fight and they lost. The planet was completely destroyed. Once a striving planet with life, now a dark grey orb. It was like the life was drained from the planet. THe two screamed in horror. "No!" Katie hollered, slamming a fist against the wall.

To distract herself, Katie grabbed tools from the bag she carried and began repairing the transmission. She felt her heart welling and her breathing become rough. The tears wanted to escape, but Katie wouldn't let them. They had failed their mission. It was a massive blow to the Freedom Fighters.

As she worked, the thoughts just came rushing. Who survived? How many died? Was there anyway to have prevented this? Katie didn't know the answers, but all she could think of was fixing the transmission so they could be answered.

Oh, how she would love to be with her mother and Shiro again. Freedom Fighters have it rough, though who didn't? Te-osh stared blankly at the planet, her tears hidden deep inside. Katie was, too, hiding her pain. Lives were lost today and they sat back and only watched. It felt like they had betrayed them.

"We could blame ourselves or look forward to saving the next life," Katie started, staring at her finished repair. "Next time we won't fail to outsmart them. We'll fight heavily and become victorious." Te-osh slowly nodded before becoming serious once more.

Katie had fixed the communicator. Time to get answers.

I am honestly doubting that any of this will be accurate. I'm just letting my brain run free, not abiding to the Voltron logic. I am using my own crazy, inflated one at this point. Though, I feel it's okay. Maybe not as good as the real truth will be, but whatever.
