The Holt siblings found themselves traveling to the Castle of Lions after defeating some creepy lizard guy that got completely demolished by their team power. Currently, the Castle was apparently helping some planet according to the update Matt had received.
“Before we arrive, I might want to go ahead and tell you that someone you would really want to see is also with Voltron. Our glorious leader, Shiro,” Matt announced, glancing over at his sister.
At the mention of his name, her heart and mind sped up with exhilaration. Katie’s eyes grew in surprise. “Really? He is okay? You have no idea how worried I was about all of you. Dad, mom, you… and Shiro,” she explained, a grin present on her face. Her heart began beating faster at the thought of seeing him once more. How would he have changed? Would he think she was different?
They flew onto an earthen planet, a large white castle with blue lights standing out of place on the hard-covered surface. Matt landed the Green Lion, a group of people happily approaching. More than a fraction of the group was humans. It had been so long since she had seen people of her own kind.
The lion’s head lowered, Matt leading the way out. The boy leaned down to greet a couple of mice that happily climbed up his body. “Hey everybody!” Matt beamed, stepping aside slightly and motioning at Katie, “This is my sister, Katie!”
Awkwardly, Katie left the lion, four people before her. Not one was Shiro. “Hey, everybody…,” she remarked, offering a smile. The dark-skinned one in the blue-themed armor peered at her with large eyes and a wide mouth.
“Katie, this is Hunk,” Matt began, gesturing to the big guy in yellow-and-white armor, “Lance,” now the blue one, “And Coran.” Coran was an older guy with orange whiskers and sleek hair. Hunk and Coran offered greetings with welcoming smiles.
Lance, on the other hand, took a different approach. “You look so similar to how Pidge dressed at the Garrison!” he commented, eyes still wide. Katie gave her brother and inquisitive glance, but the boy only smiled and shrugged.
Matt quickly dismissed it and moved on with the introductions. “And this is Princess Allura of Altea,” the boy said fondly, the princess and him sharing a glance. Lance seemed to snap out of his state at the two-way look Matt and Allura did not seem to break out of. The boy even growled.
However, Katie quickly dismissed the scene at the appearance of someone she wanted to see. Noticing her eyes go behind them, the four of them separated and silently watched the reunion before them. Deciding not to shed tears, Katie offered a small sorrowful, but happy smile as she addressed him.
“Hello, Takashi,” she said, “It is so good to see you.” She made her way to him, walking to just about halfway. The last bit of distance was covered by both of them running into each other arms. Katie buried her face into his armored collarbone, hands tightening around of him as if she was afraid that when she let go, he’d be gone once more.
Shiro’s nose nestled itself into her hair, a soft, “I did too, Katie,” leaving his mouth and tickling her scalp. They stayed like that longer than the others felt comfortable with.
“We will leave you three up to your reunion,” Lance reported, leaving the area with Hunk and Coran in his wait, “Coming, Princess?” At his question, Allura shook her head lightly. The Blue Paladin was reluctantly pulled along by Hunk, who was ready to move on. They had seen Matt’s sister and now he wished to leave her to her rekindling with both her brother and Shiro.
Matt patted Katie’s back. “Okay, I get it that you really wanted to see Shiro after being separated, but this, my sister, is the Castle of Lions,” the boy informed, directing her attention to the white castle as she left Shiro’s grasp. It looked cool from afar, but up close? Wow.
“Whoa… Nice ship,” she revered, looking up at the beautiful structure of untold technologies.
In excitement, Matt grabbed her hand and led her forward. “Let me take you on a tour!” he squeaked due to his enthralled state. Katie was ever-so-glad to finally see her younger brother again, even as the younger ruthlessly yanked her around the castle.
The tour ended in him showing her what would be her room. It was right next to Allura’s. “The rooms here are a tad bit small and I struggle to find room-,” Matt began but was cut off by his sister.
“That is only because you room is a mess,” she remarked, smirking. Matt huffed at the comment.
Though, he was quick to move on. “Anyway, but they are pretty comfortable and I hope you kind find some comfort in yours,” Matt chimed, beaming down at her. Katie mirrored his smile, a thought at the back of her mind. Grabbing Matt’s shoulder, Katie’s facial expression turned serious.
“Matt,” she began, “We will find our mother.”
