Katie and Shiro sat on the couch in the longue, you know ‘just being Paladins,’ as Matt had put it. Even though Katie was not a Paladin. They sat opposite of each other, sharing stories. It was a very welcomed experience for her. She never knew how much she wanted to hear his voice again until she kept picking his voice up when it was in hearing range. It was such a pleasing tone that appealed to her ears.

“After landing in the stolen Galra pod, the Paladins came to my rescue and I was brought back to Keith’s -- he is the kid I said felt like a younger brother to me,” Shiro regaled, offering a large smile at the memories, “We found Blue and he flew us to the castle. Well, the rest of the story is that we formed Voltron and began our long task.” Katie nodded her head, absorbing the information.

She sat back in the couch, creating a slight indent that was no match for Shiro’s larger one. “Well, I was saved by some Freedom Fighters, which Matt tells me you guys already knew,” she began, receiving a nod from Shiro, “Well, afterward, I helped their ship escape the drones and they asked me to join them. Seeing it as a possibility to see Mom and Earth and you, of course, again, I took it. With them, I did this and that and eventually took up an opportunity to work at an intelligence outpost, discreetly of course. Only the person who assigned it knows who took it.”

Shiro shifted so he was no longer facing her, but the door. “I’m sure you want to hear about Matt. He’s a good kid and a strong Paladin. Though, I’m sure you are more interested in the gossip than how he is in my eyes,” Shiro remarked, chuckling to himself, receiving a pillow being thrown at him by Katie.

“I’m hurt you think of me so… But, do tell!” she acted, pulling a frown before turning right back into a smiling poodle. You could practically see her tail wagging behind her.

Voltron’s leader only gave a heart-filled laugh at the sight of the sparkly eyed, grinning mess Katie was at the sound of gossip. “I am about one-hundred-percent sure that there is something between Matt and Allura, for one,” Shiro informed, keeping a close eye on how the girl reacted to the information. Her eyes slowly opened into full circles as she sucked in one large intake of air.

Swiftly attaching her hand to the cushions, she let out a high-pitched wheeze. “My baby brother has a crush on a space princess? Wait until Mom and Dad find out! Do you think it is mutual or completely a one-sided mess of future rejection?” she whispered between her choppy man laugh.

Thinking about the previous scenes he had walked into and all the weird shared looks, Shiro came up with his answer fast. “Definitely mutual. You should have seen them every time one of them experienced a nightmare. Super clingy to only each other,” the taller male answered, thoughtful face staring off in the distance. He snapped out of it as if he saw something unpleasant in his memory. “Anyway, yeah. I think they have mutual feelings… just like two others on board.”

Katie picked up on the quiet statement. “Oh, another couple on board? But, all the others are ma-,” the girl started before hitting a realization. She choked, giving Takashi a look. “Did you move on from Adam!?” she asked, referring to a past lover of the man’s. He coughed at the comment, looking at her in surprise. Her racing heart calmed down.

“You knew about that? I thought I hid our relationship well, especially after he pretty much dumped me because I accepted the Kerberos mission. And, no, I am nowhere, at all, remotely involved with the relationship I am mentioning,” he confessed, slightly embarrassed to have been called out. It was not like the information was false. The guy had moved on. More quickly than he thought he would have.

Katie went off into thought, trying put two and two together, but truth is, she did not know much of the other boys. “That red one looks gay. He practically screams gay with that haircut and stance. I’m guessing that one is yours and one of the two?” she questioned, investigation mode on. Shiro laughed, nodding nevertheless. Trying to match the moody Paladin Katie briefly met hours ago with another was trickey.

Shiro patted her shoulder mid-thought. “I am sure you can come up with the other half with that brain of yours,” he assured, a kind smile being gifted to her.

She nodded ecstatically. “It cannot be Coran. From what I gathered he would not match anyone of this castle. The yellow one seems way too straight. I think he’d rather marry food instead of red boy Keith. That only leaves one option, lanky guy who acts super straight, which my calculations say is probably him convincing himself he likes chicks or that he’s bi and is ignoring the gay half of him,” Katie reported, thoughts spewing out into the open. Shiro clapped.

“Well, done. You are correct. That is expected of you,” he said, yawning shortly afterward. The buff pilot snuggled his way into the puffy couch, eyes closing.

Matt’s sister looked around in search of some time device, but found none. Looking at her watch, which still marked Garrison’s time, she read that it was midday there. The two of them had met in the room around eight in the morning, home time. Four hours they had sat. At first it was just anything and everything that the two discussed, which lead to the topic of the past. Who knew it had been that long?

Yesterday, the time the Paladins rested for the ‘night’ was about ten in the morning in her watch’s time. That meant Shiro stayed up two hours later then he was supposed to. “Come on, go to your room,” she whispered, nudging Shiro in the face with her slim, pale fingers. He groaned and lightly pushed her hand away.

Slightly peeking up at her, he suggested, “Why don’t we stay here for a bit longer, enjoying each other’s company like we did when we were still captive. Not that I want to bring those times back to your memory…” After he stated his option, he pulled Katie into his weight, the two sinking into the couch. He did not let go of her wrist as his breathing evened, signalling sleep taking over.

Spotting a blanket at her feet, she used her toes to pull it to her, wrapping the cloth over him with some resting on her lap. Glancing at Shiro once more, paying close attention to his scar, Katie sighed in surrender and contentment. Her eyes shortly fell close afterward, welcoming dreams of her time with the Galra.
