The smell of something very familiar filled my nose as I sat up in my room drawing in a notebook I'd bought. I tried to ignore the smell but it just continued to linger in my room from all the way downstairs. When the smell got too harsh for my nose I stormed downstairs to find Hunter Tristan and Brandon seated around the coffee table smoking pot. My nose scrunched up in disgust.
"Hey Zoe," Brandon shouted with his red eyes. "Want a hit?"
"I'm good," I told him holding my hand up. I made eye contact with Tristan and he didn't hide the way his eyes raked up and down my body. I had on yoga shorts and a black tank top so I only blushed as I furiously tried pulling my shirt up a bit more.
"I'm going to head out for a walk and let this place clean itself of the smell," I told them and Hunter had his back to me not even giving me a glance.
The boys never answered me so I left the apartment and headed to the lobby. Maybe I could just walk the block so I wouldn't get lost but with Hunter driving me to work almost every day I had an idea of my surroundings.
After spending more time with Tristan I'd grown a liking to the boy, but I still told myself nothing between us was going to happen. I wasn't going to let anything happen, I wasn't looking forward to getting attached to someone and having them tear my heart open. The boys I hung around were the type to do that to girls, so it'd be best to stay friends, even though Tristan had me weak in the knees at times. I also had never seen him with or even heard him talk about another girl.
He didn't really seem like the type to sleep around either but I can't judge a book by its cover.
My mood of my surroundings suddenly changed and I had a feeling like someone was watching me. You ever have that feeling? Like someone's looking at you through your window from outside, and since it's dark you can't see them they can only see you. Yeah, that's the feeling I had right now.
I tilted my head behind me a little but there was no one there. Now I was just scaring myself.
I still continued forward and listened closely to hear a twig snap so I whipped around and still no one was there. I checked every place someone could be hiding with my eyes but there was no sign of a person. So I turned and started walking again. But I still felt like I was being followed.
Of course I had no cell phone in order to call Hunter for help and I also had no idea what his number was. I was much farther from the apartment now and I was growing a little nervous.
A hand wrapping around my waist made me nearly slap Hunter in the face by accident from the shock he had given me. "Calm down," he whispered but it didn't help my racing heart beat.
"You fucking scared me!"
"As much as I'm shocked to hear you curse you need to stay quiet. Blake has been following you and I'm not sure if he has some of his buddies near by so just stay close."
"Are you serious?" I whispered and he gave me a look that said 'why would I be joking?'
I leaned in closer to Hunter his hand still wrapped around my waist, and then as if I were a flame Hunter ripped his arm off me. I only jumped and raised an eyebrow.
"Sorry," he apologized.
"So why'd you come?" I decided to ask him.
"Tristan was worrying so he insisted we go follow you to make sure you were fine and turns out he was right."
It made me feel jittery that Tristan was actually worried about me but it also sent mixed feelings that I wasn't too sure I enjoyed.
"Tristan and Brandon are a few ways behind us so we should be fine if anyone tries to face us. No more walks though alright?"
