Zoe

I was out for a run early in the morning feeling the heat of the day starting to grow so when I ventured back inside the apartment I felt calm when the cold air hit me. My water bottle was empty so I filled it half way and chugged the cold refreshing drink. I knew Hunter wasn't home and wouldn't be for a while and Casey was working so I had the place to myself for a while. Hunter left before the sun woke and Casey decided to get to work early for some extra time. I didn't get the chance to know where Hunter had run off to but I'm sure he'd let me in on the details when he returned home, which I did know was around noon.

A shower sounded suitable right now to get the sweat from my body so I grabbed a towel and headed for the bathroom. I checked myself over in the mirror with my white t-shirt loosely flowing above my yoga pants. My hair was tied in a wild bun and defiantly needed a wash.

I stepped into my bedroom to grab a change of clothes and set my phone down on my bed, then began for the hallway again when someone opened the front door. I forgot I'd left it unlocked so that could be anybody.

I wasn't stupid enough to call out because of the fact that I knew a lot of dangerous men knew my roommate. But at the same time, it could be one of our friends. Just to be safe I stood there for a moment to see if anyone called out and when all I heard was heavy footsteps clanking across the floor I became cautious and tip-toed into the closest room which was the bathroom. I listened extra carefully when the person began rummaging through the cabinets and what sounded like a pile of papers. Then when something crashed against the floor I knew this was an intruder. Should I be a hero and rush down there to attack them? Or grab my phone and call the police?

As I stood off the floor to rush back into my room the set of feet started pounding up the stairs and seeing's how the bathroom was the first room at the top I had no choice but to stay hidden in the bathroom. I closed the door as quietly as I could and shut the light. Whoever was here rushed past the bathroom and entered Hunter's bedroom. I peeked through the crack and saw no one in the hallway anymore so I thought it'd be a great choice to make a run for it, but then I got way too scared and only shut the door again, hiding in the dark.

It felt like hours until the body started walking down the hallway again, this time agonizingly slowly. I bit on my thumb to try and hide my heavy breathing. There was nothing heavy enough in here to hit this person over the head with so I decided on the plunger thrown behind the toilet. Maybe if I shoved it in their face it'd gross them out enough to give me the time to head out.

The footsteps stopped right outside the door and so I stood quickly, holding the plunger in my hand ready to attack. The door wasn't shut completely so when the stranger tapped on it, it swung open slowly and there stood Blake. When the light hit me and he saw I was there, a wide and devilish smirk captured my attention. But what he didn't see was the plunger so I took the opportunity to shove it in his face.

"Gah!" He yelled and I pushed through him to dash down the stairs and towards the wide open front door. The perfect escape!

Just as I was about to jump through the doorway a wall stopped me and I crashed into it, falling on my back afterwards. Except the wall hadn't been a wall. It was a rock-hard chest belonging to a tall buff man crossing his arms and standing there staring down at me. He'd come out of nowhere.

"What the fuck do you want Blake?" I asked when he pounded down the stairs with an angry look drowning in his eyes.

"I'm looking for something that Hunter had stolen," he replied aggressively, reaching down to tighten his hold on my neck. He lifted me from the floor and pinned my back against the wall. "I'm sure you know what I'm talking about."
