My eyes felt heavy when I lifted then open the slightest, seeing a blur vision of my room. My mind was still processing how I had gotten here and what exactly was happening. Then the memories flooded back to me from Zoe being taken to Tasha sticking me with a needle. I shot out of my slumber to sit up in bed which was the worst idea ever because my brain felt as if it crashed against my skull. I rubbed my head to sooth the pain and started to stand, ignoring the fact that my legs were weak. My thoughts carried me to the living room where I found my brother sitting still on the couch and Tristan passed out on the floor.
Tyler noticed my figure walking into the room and he immediately stood.
"Hey you're awake."
"Great observation," I grumbled. "What happened?"
"Tasha drugged you last night in hopes to have you get a good nights sleep," he shrugged and shoved his hands into his pockets. "Everyone left last night but Tristan and I. Tasha told me she'll be back later on today with weapons and her team. Jasmine is in a cab on her way."
I fell into the couch and continued to rub my temples. Whatever Tasha injected me with was wearing off but left me feeling hungover. Tyler handed me his half full cup of coffee and I began to chug it.
"When are we doing this?" I could hear how viscous my tone was. "I don't know how much longer I can wait."
"Whenever Tasha arrives. You've been sleeping for quite a while, it's already three in the afternoon. Tristan was awake most of the night so I figured I'd let him sleep."
I was chewing on the inside of my lip as my head filled with disturbing thoughts.
"She's probably already dead."
"Don't fucking say that!" Tyler snapped. "Quit worrying yourself."
I ignored him and allowed my mind to think of the negatives. I couldn't even notice the throbbing in my head anymore.
There was a small knock on the door but I made no move to get up so Tyler took the task instead. Back when I used to have to murder the girls Drake chose, I felt like I couldn't even live with myself. Going to sleep at night knowing I was the one who assassinated the innocent women made me think I was sleeping with a monster. He'd torture my dreams and would be with me throughout the days. Now that I've pushed him to the pit of my stomach, he's been inching his way out of the cage because the thoughts of Zoe being dead fell on me. I was the one who let this happen.
"Hello brother," that familiar female voice spoke above me. My head lifted to find my little sister standing there smiling slightly.
I jumped up and pulled her frame in for a hug as her hands wrapped around my torso. Her warmth calmed my nerves in the smallest way and her smell brought back memories of the past when we were children without a care in the world.
Tyler brought the two of us into the kitchen so when he discussed the plan with Jasmine we wouldn't wake Tristan. I couldn't help but stare down at my sister the entire time, taking in all her features. She resembled Tyler and I with her face but her hair color had changed. She dyed dark purple highlights but it looked cute on her. She looked much more grown now.
"We're going to get through this," Jasmine reassured me when Tyler was finished discussing the plan. "It's a good plan."
"I know," I sighed. "I just can't live with myself if she's already gone."
