Chapter Twenty-Five

*2 years later*

It's the winter showcase for Chicago Arts University. Emily has just finished playing Penny in the production of Hairspray that the musical theatre society put together. She's been selected to perform a few songs in the showcase and be in a few groups that are performing. Everyone from 51 have decided to buy tickets to watch her. Lee Henry has also decided to watch her. Lee Henry and Emily have been dating for about a year now. Emily is opening the show. The lights go down and a few seconds later, the stage lights come on, shining on Emily. She starts singing When There Was Me and You from High School Musical.

Once she's finished, the lights go down and everyone claps. 

The showcase goes on for another two hours, closing with 21 Guns from American Idiot, which is the next production the university is putting on, with Emily singing as Whatsername.

At the end of the showcase, Emily gets changed out of her costume and back into her normal clothes. She then walks out of the auditorium and into the foyer where everyone is waiting for her. 'There's our rising star.' Herrmann smiles when he sees her.

'Hey.' Emily smiles back. She then kisses Lee Henry. 'You all didn't have to come.'

'Yes.' Gabby nods. 'We did.'

'Where's dad?' Emily asks.

'He had to shoot off to run an errand.' Sylvie tells her. 'We're going to meet him at Molly's in about half an hour.' Sylvie and Kelly have been dating since a couple of days after the trial.

'What don't we all go to Molly's?' Matt suggests.

'Sounds like a plan!' Boden nods in agreement. 'Everyone get to Molly's!'

Within half an hour, everyone is pulling up in front of Molly's. The first people to walk in are Emily and Sylvie. Standing in the middle of Molly's is Kelly. There are candles lit on every table and rose petals scattered around. The background music is soft and the lights have been dimmed down. Emily smiles, she has an idea of what's going to happen. Molly's start to fill up with everyone from 51. Emily and Lee Henry stand beside Kelly, Lee Henry has his arm around Emily's waist.

'Kelly, what's all this?' Sylvie questions.

'Over the past couple of years I've come to realise how short life truly is.' Kelly begins. 'I've come to realise that you should grab every opportunity that comes your way.' He then takes something out of his pocket. 'Sylvie Brett, you are one of the best people that I am glad to have to have in my life and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.' As he drops down to one knee, there are gasps of excitement around the room. 'Sylvie Brett, will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?'

'Yes.' Sylvie smiles. 'Yes I will.' Kelly stands up, puts the ring on her finger and they kiss, everyone is clapping and cheering for them.

After a few hours of celebrating everyone heads home. Lee Henry and Emily head to their apartment. As the universities they go to are close to each other, they decided to rent a apartment together.

During the night, Emily is constantly tossing and turning, she still has nightmares, even though it has been two years. She shoots up, waking Lee Henry up as she does. 'You OK?' He asks.

'Yeah.' Emily nods, putting her hand on her forehead. 'Just another nightmare.'

'Have you spoken to Dr Charles or Dr Reese?'

'I'm going to.' Emily reassures him. 'I've got an appointment in the morning.'

In the morning, Emily makes her way to Med to speak with Dr Charles.

After half and hour speaking to him, he tells her something that she wasn't expecting to hear. 'You have PTSD.'
