The orange flames licked up the bricks, the occasional pops of firewood resounding throughout the quiet room. The fireplace, being the only source of light in the room, cast a soft glow over the large room, causing the light to shift as the fire did. They sat, curled up against each other to battle the cold outside, despite the fact that the half-Tamaranean did not need the extra warmth. The teenager beside her, however, said he was only there for her, being far too stubborn to admit that he was cold.

He meticulously tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and she smiled, leaning closer to him and pressing their lips together. "I love you." He whispered, his voice thick with lust. "I love you too." She trailed her fingers down the hollow of his throat and outlined his collarbone, the fire casting odd shadows on their faces. He leant forward and kissed her again, running his hands up her back.

Distracted by the kiss, they didn't notice the door open and see the blonde girl walk up to them and sharply whistle, ruffling Mar'i's hair. "Hey kiddies." She chuckled.

Damian irritatedly glared at her. "What are you doing here?" He hissed as Mar'i moved away from him, clearly embarrassed. "Your Dad," She pointedly looked at Mar'i. "Sent me here to keep everything PG." She smirked. "Which I clearly needed to do."

Damian rolled his eyes. "Why you?" He seethed as she shrugged and pulled out her phone to begin texting. "Something about putting out fires, I don't know. I think it was a metaphor. I wasn't really listening." She said, still typing away with a half-smile, clearly amused by the conversation she was having.

"Yup, definitely killing the mood." Mar'i muttered looking up at Damian, who lifted her and began to walk upstairs. Before they could escape, a small, beeping explosive was thrown in their way. "Get back down here or I'm calling Dick then blowing you up." She called as Damian exaggeratedly groaned and slowly put Mar'i down, whispering, "Honestly. No privacy anywhere." As he took her hand and they wandered back downstairs.

"Who are you texting anyway?" Mar'i asked, swiping the phone out of Stephanie's hands and inspecting her messages.

"Oooooh! Does Stephanie have a boyfriend?" She teasingly asked as a fierce blush bloomed across her cheeks. "No, she doesn't." Her icy blue eyes shot Mar'i a warning look and Damian snickered. "I know this number," He began, despite Stephanie's protests. "This is Drake's number."

Immediately Mar'i squealed with delight. "Oh my god. Tim and Stephanie, sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-"
"Mar'i! Stop it!" She snapped as Mar'i giggled and began to read aloud. "'Hey, I had fun last night.'
'Me too, we should do it again sometime.'
'Yeah, did you wanna come over and watch a movie tomorrow night?'-"

"I swear to god Mar'i!" She warned as Mar'i smirked. "Sounds like somebody's gettin' frisky." She giggled as Stephanie pouted and snatched her phone back.

"It's just a friend thing." She insisted as Damian raised an eyebrow and nodded, unconvinced. "Of course it is." He said. She glowered at him and he smirked. "Listen, Brown, I'll make a deal with you. If you leave right now, I won't tell anyone about you and Drake, regardless of whether it's real or not." He threatened. Steph narrowed her eyes at him. "Are you seriously blackmailing me?" She asked, surprised, but somewhat impressed.

Damian shrugged with the faintest of smiles. "Do you wanna find out?" He challenged. She crossed her arms and looked to Mar'i, "Your boyfriend is insane." She said, but Mar'i smiled and kissed his nose. "But isn't he a cutie?" She giggled.

He rolled his eyes, but couldn't help the small smile made its way onto his face. Stephanie exasperatedly groaned, getting up and beginning to walk away. "I'm telling Dick that you had sex with his daughter!" She angrily yelled as he rolled his eyes again. "Tell him something he doesn't know!" He yelled back as the large double doors slammed behind her.

"Do you have to piss everyone off?" Mar'i sighed. He shrugged and pulled her flush against him, planting a lingering kiss on her lips. "I try my best." He murmured as she giggled. "I don't think you even need to try. It appears to come naturally to you." She murmured as he smirked and kissed her again.

"You don't seem to mind me." He playfully noted as she kissed his jaw, "Well, I'm just with you for your money and looks." She smiled. He ran his hands through her hair and grinned, pressing his lips to hers again as the flickering flames of the fire inconsistently grew and fell.

There was always something so comforting about being fireside.
