She tiredly walked home, practically dragging her arms behind her. She had had an annoyingly busy day at work that day.

She was a detective and had to deal with an emergency hostage situation, which had ended up with her getting shot. Luckily she was wearing a vest, but it had still been enough to knock her to the ground and leave a nasty bruise right above her stomach.

Trying to hide this from Damian would be impossible. Quickly climbing up the stairs and into her apartment, flopping onto the sofa as soon as she got home, she let out a tired sigh. Almost immediately little, fluttery kisses were pressed to her jaw and a seductive voice whispered, "Hey baby."

She smirked and turned so she was backed up against the armrest, "Hey." She returned as he jumped over the back of the couch to kiss her, slipping his hands under her shirt. She tensed in panic as his fingers slipped closer to the dark bruise and she winced, recoiling slightly. He immediately sat back and worriedly looked at her, "Did something happen today?" He asked as she leant forwards to kiss him again. He simply shuffled backwards and held out his arms to stop her, "Mar'i." He said in a warning tone as she sighed, "Fine, today at work there was this emergency hostage situation..." She trailed off as he clenched his jaw, clearly unhappy. "I was kinda, just a little bit, shot." She said as his eyes widened in panic, "What!?" He angrily hissed as she sat up, "I'm fine, I was wearing a vest." She insisted as he tentatively lifted her shirt to see the purple-blue bruise. "Oh my god." He gasped as she tugged her shirt down, "Babe, relax." She kissed his cheek multiple times, "I'm fine."

He lightly rested his hand right where the bruise was and said, "I'm not okay with this." He pouted as she sat up straighter, "What's wrong with you?" She asked as he took her hands, "I- We got a letter from the doctor. The tests came back." He mumbled as she instantly stood up, "The test?" She asked as he nodded, sheepishly wringing his hands. "I'm pregnant?" She breathed as he nodded again, "Yeah, um, sorry I didn't wait for yo-"
She frantically cut him off and began pacing, "How are we going to tell my dad about this!?" She exclaimed as he ran his hands through his hair, "I don't know. I've not had much time to process it myself." He mumbled as she put her hands to her stomach, "I'm twenty-four!" She shouted as he glared at her, "And I'm not?" He hissed as she calmly sat down, "I'm sorry. I'm just scared." She grabbed his hand and he pulled her closer, "It's okay. We can do this." He reassured as she nodded, "Yeah, totally. We'd be great parents. You make a shit ton of money and I..." She trailed off, not knowing what else to say. "You're amazing and strong and passionate and so so beautiful." He kissed her and she smiled against his lips, "Aww." She giggled.

He lifted her and kissed her cheek, "I love you so much." He murmured as she smiled, "I love you too." She returned, standing up, "I'm gonna go to bed." She half yawned, taking a deep breath and closing her eyes for a moment before being swept off her feet and into Damian's arms, resulting in her giggling and peppering kisses along his jaw, "You know what?" She asked as he raised an eyebrow. "I think I might like having a kid." She murmured as he smiled. "But only if you're there." She rushed to add as his smile grew, "I would love nothing more."
