Keith woke up to the familiar sound of foot steps walking around in the kitchen. The light was shining bright through the curtains that were open in the living room. Who the hell opened the curtains. Keith groaned to himself, sitting up slowly on the small bed that had been put into the living room of Shiro's apartment. The pain in his left leg leaving him breathless each time he moved. It'd been 4 months since his accident and his leg just didn't seem to be getting any better. He reached over and grabbed his sweater off of the table that was beside the bed and slowly moved himself down into the wheelchair. Then he heard someone walk into the room behind him.
"Took you long enough to get up. I was considering on checking if you were dead or not." Keith was confused. That wasn't Shiro's voice and he didn't know who else would've been here. He turned around and then rolled his eyes at himself. It was Lance. Of course.
"You're back?" Keith asked. Lance had been helping shiro with Keith for the first few months before he had to go away for work. He never knew why lance wanted to help. Lance had his own life to live. "Where's shiro?" Keith said realizing he hadn't seen shiro yet.
"He had to run some errands. I was on my way back from the airport so he asked if I would stop in." Lance replied. Keith noticed that Lances hair was shorter then when he left. His hair was longer on the top and shaved short on the sides. "I had to cut my hair for work." Lance said noticing Keith staring at him. Keith nodded and pushed himself into the kitchen over to the fridge. He grabbed the juice and took a drink from it. Shiro hated when Keith didn't use a glass.
"Do you know when he's gonna be back?" Keith yelled to lance who was still in the living room. When Keith didn't get an answer he made his way back into the room and found lance making the bed. "You don't have to do that lance. My arms still work."
"It's fine. I don't mind helping." Lance said and he stretched across the bed, pulling the blankets across it. His shirt rose up a little, revealing faint scars on his back. Something lance never talked about and when he was asked about it he'd change the subject.
"Well it's good to have you back I guess." Keith shrugged. "Are you going to your parents or.."
Lance interrupted, "Here. My parents aren't home." He said quickly and threw Keith's pillows back onto the bed.
"Sure. My rooms free." He said. After the accident he could hardly move so shiro bought a pull out couch that he put into the living room for him to sleep on. It was closer to the bathroom and the kitchen which made it easier for him to move around. Lance finished the bed and sat down on it facing Keith.
"Have you walked on it yet?" Lance said and gestured to Keith's leg.
"Not really." Keith replied. The truth was he hadn't tried. Only to get in and out of bed or the shower but that was about it. He knew if lance had stuck around that he probably would've been walking since he was the only one who made Keith push himself.
