"There you are lance. I've been looking for you for the past half hour." Shiro said after he made his way towards them as soon as he saw lance come back inside.

"I wasn't gone for that long." Lance rolled his eyes and shiro raised his eyebrows.

"Yes you were And I've been stalling for you. Your father wants to speak with you. Keith yours too. They are both over there." Shiro pointed in the direction of a fancy looking group of people. Among them were, just like shiro said, the two kings who were currently watching their sons and waiting for them to come over. Keith sighed a little and made his way towards his father, knowing he'd be lectured for making him wait. Lance followed and they both stopped in front of the kings.

"Lance." King Alfor said and he nodded to his son. Keith's father said nothing, just stood in silence and Keith quickly made his way to stand beside him.

"Where were you?" King laith asked once king alfor moved away from them, talking to lance in a very important tone.

"I was here, you probably didn't notice." Keith said and he could tell from the disapproving scoff that came from his father that he didn't believe him.

"Please don't lie to me. I know you weren't here because I saw you come back inside through the doors." The king said and Keith looked down at his feet.

"Fine. The prince was showing me around since we are staying the night." Keith admitted.

"Why did you lie about it then?" His father asked and Keith didn't even know the answer to the question.

"I don't know..." Keith said quietly. His father shifted closer to him and leaned down to Keith's ear.

"Altean culture is very different from ours. It'd be best to keep your personal feelings for the prince to yourself. We can't risk them getting in the way of future arrangements." Suddenly for the first time since he came over here, Keith's full attention was on the conversation.

"Personal feelings? I just met him today." Keith said.

"And you've only been paying attention to each other the whole time. Alfor noticed as well." The king said.

"No we haven't. I left after a while." Keith said, denying what his father was saying.

"Back home you are free to be with who you want because it doesn't matter. But the Alteans are different." His dad said quietly.

"Oh my god Are we actually doing this right now? I really don't need to have this conversation with you." Keith said once he realized where his dad was going with this. He said this quite loud and he received a few glares. His father just shrugged and returned his gaze to the crowd.

"I understand what you're saying but I don't understand why you are saying it." Lance said to his father after he finished giving lance a big speech. Lance knew he was in for something when his father greeted him with only his name. But this conversation was going in the total opposite direction to what he thought it was going.

"You and the Marmoran Prince have been hardly a few feet from each other since you came in. Both of you ignored the people who attempted to make conversation with you, most of them potential wives." Alfor said and lance slouched his shoulders and groaned.

"That's what this is about. You're worried I won't find a suitable wife because I spent too much time making a friend. You're the one who always wants me to socialize when I come to these things and now you're getting mad that I listened to you." Lance said.

"Yes, socialize with the people who actually matter and not some Marmoran Prince who you just met." Alfor snapped and lance was taken aback with his tone. He said the words "Marmoran Prince" like they hurt him as they came out of his mouth.
