This is probably gonna kinda long but I don't think it's long enough to be a story on its own so enjoy.

"Shiro you can't just let these strangers into the camp. We don't know if they are dangerous." Keith whispered as his gaze drifted across the faces that stood in front of them. 2 to be exact. A small boy and an older one.

"He has a kid with him Keith." Shiro said and his gaze practically scolded Keith into silence. Then the older boy spoke up.

"You don't need to worry about me. I just need somewhere safe for Ben. I'll leaving if that's what I need to do." He said and the little boy held tightly onto his jeans.

"But you promised you were going to keep me safe." The boy said and Keith could see the older of the two take a deep breath. The eldest crouched down so he was at eye level with the boy.

"And I am keeping you safe. If you come with me I won't be able to keep you safe all the time. But If you stay here then I know you'll be safe." He whispered quietly to ben but then the child just started to cry.

"You can both stay. I don't have a problem with it. Don't mind Keith. He's like this with everyone." Shiro said. The older boy stood and sighed.

"Alright. If you're okay with it, Thank you." He said.

"Lance does this mean you are staying?" Ben asked and Lance smiled down at him and nodded. Then Ben wiped his tears and returned to his spot at Lances leg.

Keith was surprised when he saw these two come into the camp. They were an odd pair. The boy looked no older then 6 and the oldest was around Keith's age, 17 or 18. Usually when there were children there was always a mother. But this time there wasn't. It was unsettling and Keith just pushed the thought away.

"Well now that we have that all dealt with, Alli come and take Ben to the infirmary and clean up those scrapes. Lance you can come with Keith and I. We will show you around." Shiro said and a woman with light blond hair walked towards Ben.

"It's okay. You can go with her. I will see you in a bit." Lance said and he placed his hand on bens head to ruffle his hair around. Then the woman stuck out her hand and gave Ben a warm smile. Ben grabbed her hand and they both walked off towards a large tent.

"Alright lance, come with us. We will show you where everything is and explain how things work. Everyone here does their part so that things run smoothly and efficiently." Shiro got right into business and he began walking down one of the dirt paths that ran all through the camp.

The camp was made up of tents, campers and RVs, lance assumed they had probably been abandoned by people during the evacuation and it was located in the centre of a small forest. There were different sections of the camp. Some open spaces with camp fires and clothes lines and smaller places that had food and water containers. The perimeters of the camp were covered with barbed wire and makeshift fences. There were also RVs along all of the outside and large logs were placed under so nothing could crawl in, doubling as shelters and more sturdier walls. Lance was impressed with the security in this place. It seemed like nothing could could come in and it made him give a small sigh of relief. No where he'd been since this whole thing started was ever this safe.

"The camp works on a tight schedule. We eat  whenever we feel we really have to so rations last longer. You can sleep whenever you want to except for if you are guarding perimeters or needed for supply runs. If you know you have a job to do make sure you are there on time to do it." Shiro said and Keith walked silently beside him, fidgeting with the knife at his side. "Families live in the RVs and people who are on their own sleep in the tents. You will get a smaller camper since you have Ben. Children are never left unattended so you don't have to worry about Ben wandering off." Shiro said and he pointed to the different sections of the camp as he explained what they were.
