Keith hated the weekends. While all his friends were out having fun he was stuck working. The guard that usually stayed with the prince had gotten married so he was unavailable on the weekends. Keith thought that was the dumbest thing ever. But he had no choice.

"Hey. Keith! Stop being such a bore and come join us!" The Altean prince shouted from the pool. The prince and princess were both swimming and had been trying to find out who could hold their breath longer. As much as Keith would've liked to have some fun he knew he couldn't. If he let himself enjoy the company of the Altean Prince he knew he wouldn't be able to stay away. Damn him and his beautiful everything.

"I can't lance. I'm working." Keith said. He had been standing guard at the entrance of the pool. It was really warm that day and he would've loved to cool down. His armour wasn't helping either.

"Please Keith. You look like you're about to melt." The princess shouted.

"Ignore him Allura. He wouldn't be able to know how to have fun anyways. He's to serious. He'd probably need permission from the big, bad galra boss anyways." Lance teased, knowing these words would irritate Keith.

"I know how to have fun! I just can't because I'm working." Keith turned and marched towards the pool. Allura was floating on her back and Lance was sitting on the edge of the pool. Lance's blue eyes and markings shone in the sunlight and Keith wondered how it was possible he hadn't been married yet. Most Altean's get married around 18 or 19. But he guessed lance was content on doing the total opposite of anything his father told him to do. A trait any prince shouldn't have.

"Well if you know how to have fun why don't you join us?" Lance said and kicked water at Keith. "Plus I'm the Prince, wouldn't you get in more trouble if you didn't listen to me?" Keith glared at the prince. Keith knew either way he wasn't gonna get what he wanted. So he shook his head. Keith removed his armour and took off the top half of his suit. He suddenly felt self conscious. Keith's skin was the total opposite of Lances. While Lances skin was a smooth and flawless honey colour, Keith's was pale and covered in scars. "A warriors pride." Is what the galra called scars. Keith saw it more as another way he was different.

"So he does know how to loosen up a little." Lance said to Allura but mostly to Keith. Keith saw Allura roll her eyes slightly at her brother. Then she rolled into the water and swam to the edge of the pool.

"Where are you going?" Lance asked as he watched Allura get out of the pool and dry off.

"It's almost 2, I have a meeting with someone that I have to get to." Allura replied. Lance groaned. Keith was contemplating whether or not he should put his stuff back on, unsure whether lance would want to leave or not.

"See you later I guess." Lance mumbled as Allura walked through the door and he got back into the water. Keith decided that he might as well get in even if he'd have to get out soon because the heat was really bothering him now. He dove down into the water and touched the bottom of the pool before surfacing again and brushing the hair out of his eyes. He looked towards the spot lance had been and was confused when he saw he wasn't there anymore.

"Great. He left." Keith said out loud to himself. Then he felt strong arms pull him under the water. Keith gasped mostly because he was caught off guard but also because of the strength of what ever was pulling him under. He struggled to get back up to the surface, coughing when he finally came up for air. Between the sound of him choking on the water he could hear someone laughing at him.

"Aren't you supposed to be alert at all times? It's part of your job isn't it?" Lance laughed and swam from behind Keith so he was in front of him.

"Well maybe if you let me do my job I would be." Keith growled and his eyes glowed in annoyance.

"Hey. No need to get sore. I was giving you some practice." Lance said examining Keith's yellow eyes.  Keith rolled his eyes and pushed himself up onto the pool ledge. He'd have to wait until his suit was dry to put on the rest of his armour. Lance grabbed the blowup doughnut that was floating by and sat in it, putting his feet on the ledge between Keith's legs so he wouldn't float away. "Can I ask you something? Like friend to friend, not Prince to guard?" Lance asked after a few minutes of silence.
