I honestly couldn't think of a title.
Today was finally the day lance came home. Keith hadn't seen him in months and they were barely able to communicate while lance was overseas. He waited at the entrance of the airport with Lances family. His two brothers, sister in law and baby nephew, who lance hadn't seen yet. Lance's parents didn't know he was coming home and he told everyone to keep it a secret so he could surprise them. Originally Keith wasn't supposed to know either but lance accidentally let it slip while they were on the phone. It took Keith a while to stop smiling and was anxious to see lance.
"He should be getting off right about now." Anthony, Lances oldest brother, said to them. "He told me his flight was delayed a few minutes. Makes sense though. Not very often do 10 soldiers end up in the same plane." He said and he picked up the baby out of the carseat, holding him in his arms. Keith couldn't get over how much he looked like lance, remembering back to when he saw a few of Lances baby pictures.
Keith looked around and saw a few other families standing close to them with signs and gifts. They must be waiting for someone too and he smiled to a small boy who waved at him. Then the boy turned to the woman who was standing with him. "Are they waiting for daddy too?" The woman laughed and picked the boy up.
"No. They are waiting for someone else. But I bet whoever they are waiting for has the same job as daddy." Then the boy smiled. Keith laughed to himself. He always found kids funny, slightly annoying but funny.
Keith turned his attention back to the doors. A few groups of people came out of them and he was starting to get impatient. "I bet lance will be happy to see you." Kai, the youngest of the family still in his teens, said and nudged Keith in the arm.
"I hope so." Keith said and he leaned against the van. They were told by the airport security to wait outside so they wouldn't get in the way of other people who needed to get places. No one minded though, it was warm outside so they all decided it'd be better then staying inside. "I bet he'll be happy to meet Kane." Keith said, watching the baby smiling at his father. Kai laughed.
"He definitely will. He's always loved kids." Kai said. Then the doors opened once again and a few men in camouflage walked outside. Keith straitened up and strained his neck to see if any of them were lance. But he relaxed again when he saw he wasn't there. A few more people came through the doors before he saw a couple more men and woman walk through the doors.
"Daddy!" The little boy from earlier yelled and he ran towards a tall a man who was making his way towards them. The man dropped his bags and scooped the boy up in his arms, hugging him tightly while the rest of his family watched on. Then the man picked his bags up, never putting his son down and walked over to the others. He nodded towards Keith and Lances family before he stopped by his wife. Keith turned his attention back to the doors and then he saw lance, carrying his large duffel bag on his back and making his way towards them. He smiled widely as he got closer to everyone. Lance was making his way to Keith but kai was already on his way over to lance.
"There you are! We were wondering if you had gotten lost in the airport." Kai said. Lance brought his brother into a hug and laughed.
"I didn't think you missed me that much." Lance said and he hugged kai back after he dropped his bag to the ground. As much as Keith couldn't wait to be close to lance he knew he should let his family greet him first. He could hear the other family laughing loudly as they had their small reunion. Then when Lance pulled away from the hug, Anthony made his way over to lance. "Hey! How's it going big guy?" Lance smiled lovingly down at the baby in Anthony's arms and Anthony held him out.
"You can hold him you know." Anthony grinned. Then lance carefully picked up the baby out of Anthony's arms. "That's your uncle lance." Anthony said proudly as he watched his son smile widely up at lance. Kane was almost 7 months by now. He was born shortly after lance was deployed again. It was a long 7 months for everyone and lance had felt bad that he couldn't make it home to see Kane earlier. It was really important to him that he was there with his brother for the birth of his first nephew. But it only made their encounter more special.
