I walked out of Chemestry, found my locker and put my books inside. I dont normally skip class, but this time I really need to. And I dont think I will miss much in Biology. I shut my locker and walked towards the library. I came in quietly and sat down at the nearest computer. I switched it on when I sat down and logged on using the school's password. I pulled up the catalog of all the books and searched for one about herbs and plants in north america. Okay, maybe not those exact words, but close enough. I found the book i was looking for and quickly cleared the history and shut off the computer. I ran over to the shelf and looked for it.

"Gotcha," I said and found a corner to sit in among the shelves.

I opened it up and looked for the page i somehow knew it was on.

"Wolfsbane is an extremely poisionous plant known to several wooded areas of North America. Most types of Wolfsbane are quite harmful to humans, but the rare types of Wolfsbane can severely injure or kill most animals. It was believed in local myths and legends that Wolfsbane was used to keep a certain type of mythological animal away- the Werewolf. The half man- half beast creatures that wandered several places in North America looking for prey. Villagers and townspeople would hang the Wolfsbane over their doors and windows, but some would grind their's into a  powder for self defense," I read aloud to myself.

So that's why Beck left. He knew the name of the plant and he knew it could hurt him.

I put the book back on the shelf where it was and walked back to the corner.

"But why? Wolfsbane is very rare. Even in the wooded areas of North America," I told myself.

I stood up and walked out of the library. My next destination was a very special teacher of mine. I walked down one floor to the freshman hallway. Mr. Huntington was the only Freshman professer who knew me personally. He was best friends with my Grandmother in school. I found his classroom just as he was dismissing a class full of Freshman. They all looked at me as I pushed my way through to get to Mr.Huntington.

"Mr.Huntington? I could really use your help,' I asked him

He was seated at his desk glasses on, grading test papers.

"Hello, Lia. How may I be of service?" He asked me looking up from the stack of papers.

"What do you know about a rare type of plant called Wolfsbane?" I asked him seriously.

"Well it is, as you said, a rare plant. Only growing in the wooded, shady areas of North America. There were some legends or myths that it was intended to keep a mythical creature- known to us as a Werewolf- away from any human that it came in contact with. It saved many people's lives time and time again...it is only a myth. It is said that every person who has at least one strand of Wolfsbane is protected for life, from any harm animal and human alike. But as I recall, Mr.Dylans had several strands of Wolfsbane at his home, and yet he was sadly killed. But it is only a theory that scientists came up with. None of it is real," He said standing up to erase his board.

I didnt say anything. I thought about what he said and about the information i already knew- which wasnt much.

"Why do you ask, Lia?' He said facing me.

"I was just wondering. Mr.Browning mentioned it in Chemestry today," i said standing up to leave.

  "Leaving so soon?"

"Um..yeah. I have a class to get to. I'll drop by some other time. Thanks Mr.Huntington," I said walking towards the door.

"Anytime, Lia. Thank you for visiting me," He replied without another word.

I walked out and started down the hallway when I noticed that my dad was standing at the door with the police- him being a detective and all.

"Dad, what are you doing here?" I asked him.

"Lia, arent you supposed to be in class?" He asked me when I walked over.

"I had a free period. What happened?" I said looking him in the eyes.

"I was talking to the police about trying to find whatever killed your teacher. We dont have anything so far. We're hoping whatever it was is long gone," he replied.

I looked out into the parking lot and watched a familiar navy blue Chevy Camero pull up.

"Is that..Brian?" I asked.

My older cousin Brian stepped out of the car, his sunglasses on his head.

"Lia! How's my favorite cousin?" He yelled walking towards us.

"Brian!" I yelled and ran at him.

He caught me in a hug then pulled back to look at me.

"Geeze, Lia. Do you work as a super model now or somethnig? Are there any guys I need to beat up for you?"

"No, I pretty much have the guys taken care of. But what are you doing at school?" I asked him surprised.

"Your mom told me you had school today, so I thought I would come eat lunch with you," He said walking beside me up the steps to the door.

"What's up Uncle?" Brian asked him smiling.

"Hey Brian. How are you?" My dad asked.

"I'm doing good, Uncle," Brian said shaking my dad's hand.

"Okay enough chit chat...we would be in lunch by now, Brian. Let's go. See you at home dad," I said and pulled him into the building.
