Chapter 21

I pretty much fast walked to my car to get away from them. When I got there I had some trouble unlocking my car in my frustration and didnt notice someone was behind me. It felt like somone was there so I turned around.

 "Do you really think you can change their minds, Lia? If they think war is the best answer, who are you to stop them? Jacob was right about one thing, your not even a full wolf yet, and your already trying to throw yourself in as Alpha. Do you wanna know who killed your little friends? I know who killed them Lia," Eric said smiling evily.

  "It was you all along. I figured it out when you went storming off. You knew that if they werent on your side you could still keep it a secret. You wanted to be banished," I replied looking him in the eyes.

 "You have all of that correct, Lia. Except for one thing, I didnt work alone. I had some inside help," He said gesturing behind me.

 I turned around to come face to face with Shane. I stepped back a couple inches away from him.

 "No, not you Shane. Please tell me he's lying," I begged him.

For a second his face changed to the protective and caring Shane I know when he saw my face. But it didnt last long.

  "I'm so sorry Lia," He said trying to take a step toward me.

I backed up, "You never liked any of us. You just joined to help Eric. You wanted to gain my trust because Brian was the Alpha. You thought if you could get close to me, you could weasle scrects out of me about how to overthrow Brian and become the Alpha."

 "Lia, I really do like you. At first it was just so I could get closer to Brian, but then I got to know you," Shane said grabbing my arm before I could back away any farther.

 "Beck! Alec! Scott!" I yelled at the house.

"They wont be able to come in time. We'll have already been gone by then," Eric said grabbing me to tie up my wrists.

 From here I could see the front door opening as they piled out trying to look for me.

  "Lia!," Beck yelled as he searched for me.

Eric was trying up my ankles too, and that gave me time to yell once more.

 "Beck!" I yelled before my mouth was covered in tape.

  "Please coperate, Lia. I really dont want him to hurt you," Shane wispered in my ear.

Beck saw me just as Eric picked me up and slung me over his shoulder. Beck came running but we disappeared into thin air and he could no longer see me. We where already to far ahead for him to really see me anymore through the mist we went through. But I did see him step through silently.

 ~~Beck's POV~~

I watched as she square on punched Jacob in the face.

 "Watch what you say wolf," She said then wlaked out the door.

  I didnt try to stop her. She was angry and I was gonna let her blow it off. Jacob stood back up.

 "I deserved that one," He said clutching his face.

Alec brought him some ice.

 "Maybe she's right Brian. Can't we at least consider her theories?" I asked.

   "She offers up some good points in her argument I must agree. And her theories are being held up very high for thought cinsidering she displayed them so well. We will consdier them, but for now let's just leave her to her thoughts," Brian said sitting down.

 "Where's the book?" Scott asked.

We looked around everywhere an realized that Shane was gone too.

  "He probably went after her and still had the book in her hand when she handed to him and he forgot he had it. We just have to find him," Alec said before we heard screaming.

  "Beck! Alec! Scott!" Lia yelled.

 "It's Lia!" I said as we all raced out the door. 

I looked for her everywhere and didnt see her. Until she yelled my name again. I looked up just as she was being carried into a mist wall. Then she disappeared.

  "Guys!" I yelled then ran for the wall.

I walked in first but the others followed me in after. Inside it was dark and I couldnt see anything. But eventually my wolf senses snapped on. We walked down a path that seemed to go on forever. I thought I had lost her until I heard Shane's voice coming from the sides.

 "Lia, please be still. I dont wanr Eric to hurt you. If you'll be still I can keep you safe," He told her.

"Why cant you just let me go?" She replied.

  I could almost imagine the tears forming in her eyes. Then I pictured Shane wiping away the ones that fell as he said, "I didnt want this to happen. But it's what has to be done."

  "Please Shane. If you let me go I wont tell them," She said in a hurt voice.

When she begged him I could see her face clearly in my mind. Her eyes glistening with tears, her cheeks red from tears already shed, and her lips forming the words as she spoke them.

 "I can't do that Lia. I'm sorry," He said.

I walked forward a little to see if I could see them. The tree's where just thin enought that I could. Shane was crouching in front of Lia putting another peice of tape over her mouth in place of the one he took off. But before he did he kissed her. That SOB was kissing Lia. I wanted to jump up and go after him, but something stopped me. Lia wasnt kissing him back. She just sat there awkwardly. Her eyes darted to look at me and I held a finger to my lips. She nodded.

  Shane pulled away from her, "Always wanted to do that. I promise if we can get out of here you and I will be together."

 He put the tape over her mouth, then stood up and walked off. That's when she started crying. It broke my heart to see her like this. It always had even when we where kids as friends on the playground. But now she was something much more to me than a friend. I loved her and when i saw her like this, i wanted to kill Shane and Eric. I backed up to tell they guys to go find Shane and Eric.

 "Guys I found Lia. Split up into two groups. One going left and one going right. I'll get Lia out of there then cal Brian so we can meet back up here, Everyone nodded and took off. That left me standing there looking throught the trees at Lia. I stepped through and she looked up.

 She had fresh tears going down her cheeks when I came up to her. I took the tape off her mouth and untied her. She stood up then fell into my arms. This is where she belonged. Right here with me. I pulled her back and wiped her tears away.

  "It's okay now. After that speech you gave at the house I was sure nothing could scare you. But now I see you are fragile in your own way," I said brushing her hair from her face.

 She looked down at her feet and frowned, "He kissed me. Shane kissed me and I didnt do anything. I pretty much just let my gaurd down."

 I lifted her face up with my hand under her chin, "You didnt kiss him back though. And for that I'm gratefull. I love you, Lia. And with that said, I think we need to get out of here."

 I kissed her shortly on the lips and we ran through the trees to find Brians group already there with Eric tied up.
