Chapter 12

Beck and I sat there mouths hanging open. Mr.hargrove just stood up and left.

  "What happened?" I asked Chase.

"Her body was found outside the cafeteria, near the dumpsters. And you should be thanking me. i just got you guys out of trouble," Chase said smiling.

  "Thank you, Chase,"I said to him.

His eyes roamed down to my hand, that was holding Beck's. I hadnt even realized we where holding hands until Chase looked.

 "Are you guys.." He didnt finish.

  "Yeah we are. As of..10 minutes ago,"Beck replied standing up.

He didnt let go of my hand so I followed him. We walke out the door behind Chase. I leaned in to whisper something to him.

  "I have some questions. Who is your Alpha, and when do I get to meet the rest of the pack?" I asked trying not to be overheard by Chase.

  "Brian is our Alpha, and you might get to meet the pack tonight. They're all guys, so be aware of their cockiness. And I should go ahead and tell you up front, you might be next in line to be the Alpha. Over me, the Beta," He said it so low I could hardly hear him.

  "Me? I dont even shift or whatever you people call it," i exclaimed.

"Hey Chase, we'll catch up with you, okay?" Beck said and turned to face me.

  "Uh...okay man. See you later," Chase said walking away.

"Lia, how old are you?" Beck asked me.

  "I'm almost seventeen. Why?"

"Because when you turn seventeen you can shift into your wolf form. Its the tradition of all packs. If you have wolf blood in you then when you turn seventeen you can shift at midnight of your birthday," Beck replied.

  "So your saying I could be Alpha?"

"Yeah. If you wanted too. Its optional, but everyone thinks that because your related to an Alpha you wont pass it up. If you did then the Beta would become Alpha and you would become Beta in my place," Beck explained to me.

   "Then you can be Alpha. I dont want to be and Alpha. A Beta I can handle, but an Alpha? No way Jose!" I said.

  Beck laughed at me then pulled me in for a hug. I layed my head against his chest and listened to his heartbeat. His hands where on my back holding me there. I never thought it would be like this between Beck and me. I had always secretly hoped he liked me, cuz I liked him.

 "Hey you guys, you might want to check this out," Chase said from behind us.

We turned round and looked at him. He was standing at the front entrance becuase the doors where gone.

  We walked over hand in hand to look at it. The doors where completely gone, knocked right off its hinges. The dark clouds overhead didnt look to happy. Beck grabed me from behind at the waist and tried to pull me back when i stepped outside but he couldnt hold on. Right then as I was outside the clouds opened up and dumped rolling waves of rain on me. I turned around to look at Beck and Chase. I was soaked down to the bone and shivering. I walked inside and pushed the hair back from my face.

  "I'm going to find Rylee and put some dry clothes on, now," I said before I started walking away.

 Chase and Beck both busted out laughing at me as I wlaked down the hallway to the class Rylee was in.
