(Flashback)
"Arin! Where did your father go?!" Her father's girlfriend—Hayoon asked her with a loud scream. She was frustrated and angry, flipping things aroud the small apartment where they live.
She was looking for her savings that she was hiding from Arin's father. It appears that he finally found it. Since Arin's father's an alcoholic, Hayoon was very much afraid of him. The only reason why she still stays with them is because she has no home. She left Gwangju for Arin's father—Jaehyo, because he promised her a better life.
But all his promises are broken. He became an alcoholic, got kicked out of his apartment in Paju and now ended up in Gimpo, on a smaller apartment.
"Arin! I told you to guard it!" Hayoon yelled at 4 year-old, clueless girl in front of her. She seem to have a black eye on her left eye.
"I did! I tried but father hit me." The kid pointed at her eye. "He said he needed the money. People are after him." She said as she scratched the part of her head that seem to be balding from too much scratching.
"Useless! You're useless. And you're fucking disgusting. Go wash up!" Hayoon hit her with a cushion, as she pushed her towards the bathroom. She turned the shower on without checking if it was too hot or too cold.
She shut the door and locked it from the outside.
"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! It's freezing cold! Mommy!" She screamed but Hayoon was already at the kitchen area that's still a part of the living room. She can't really hear Arin because of the TV.
Arin avoided the water but she was already wet anyway. She'd rather stay on the cold water that shiver on the cold wind.
After 30 Minutes, Hayoon opened the door and saw Arin sleeping on the floor. She had to kick her to wake her up. "Stupid kid! Get dressed up now! Fucking Jaehyo. If only I knew he has a daughter! You such a problem! You're such a big burden!" She yelled throwing her some clothes.
"Now sleep!" She yelled at Arin who seem to be used at the yelling by now. This is how this house works. Everybody yells if they need to be heard. They hurt each other and they throw things if they're angry.
It was their normal day.
"When will I go to school, Mommy? The neighbor asked me if I'm going to school. I'm the same age as her child." She asked while Hayoon was eating her breakfast. She felt her stomach grumbling, but Hayoon never gives her food and would get hit if she insists, so she'd rather starve.
"You're not going to school you dumb kid! You're going to stay here forever!" She yells at the kid.
"But, how am I supposed to be a doctor? How am I supposed to cure father?" She asked. It was a funny joke for Hayoon since she never got to pass the exams for college. She also didn't have the money. College is something that only exist in the fantasy world for her.
"There is no chance of you being a doctor in this fucking place." Hayoon whispered. For the first time she wasn't loud.
"Then I'll leave this place when I grow up." Arin told her, making a paper plane. "I'll fly somewhere else." She said as she launched the paper plane.
Hayoon picked it up and ripped it into shreds. "You're not going anywhere! You will never leave this place!" She said as she shoved the torn pieces of paper in Arin's mouth, grabbing her hair, throwing her inside the closet, locking it from the outside.
