El's mother sat next to her bedside, not saying a word.
El stared at the tv screen, feeling like she was put in the spotlight. Then again, she was.
Her name was on every channel, news reporters sharing her story to the world. She felt like she has nowhere to run. She was exposed. All of her thoughts were open to the public. Which made one question surface in the chaos: who knew about the journal?
Josh walked through the door, looking towards the ground. El felt anger towards him. She didn't want to be saved. She wanted to be gone from this world. And yet, here she was. Living, breathing and most of all, feeling.
Her journal couldn't save her now.
And then all of the pieces connected.
Josh knew all along.
