Another few days passed. Tonight, however, there was a Christmas party, created by Slughorn.

I had decided to go alone because there's no one who I'd like to go with.

I mean, yes, there is Draco, and I did ask him, but he just said, "Can't. I'm busy."

(A/N: Yeah. Sure.)

Around six, I pulled on a long f/c dress. I put on some cute Christmas socks that went a little bit past my shins and some black combat boots with little flowers on the side of them.

After doing my hair up in a cute style, I walked out the door of the dorm. Star followed me.

We walked the short walk to Slughorn's office.

The ceiling and walls had been draped with emerald, crimson and gold hangings so that it looked as though they were all inside a vast tent.

The room was crowded and stuffy and bathed in the red light cast by an ornate golden lamp dangling from the centre of the ceiling in which real fairies were fluttering, each a brilliant speck of light. Loud singing accompanied by what sounded like mandolins issued from a distant corner; a haze of pipe smoke hung over several elderly warlocks deep in conversation, and a number of house-elves were negotiating their way squeakily through the forest of knees, obscured by the heavy silver platters of food they were bearing, so that they looked like little roving tables.

I saw Snape standing there, alone, just staring at everything.

Harry soon walked in, accompanied by Luna. "Luna, Harry! Hi!" I said, waving as they walked over to us.

"Hi, Y/n!" Luna said happily.

Hermione rushed in. "Help!"

"What do you need help with?" I asked as she hid behind a table.

"McLaggen! I was an idiot..." Hermione explained. " I should've just gone with Harry or someone, friends, you know, but no! I had to ask McLaggen, help, hide me!"

"You mean Cormac McLaggen?" Harry asked. "The guy who tried out for Keeper in Gryffindor?"

"Yes!"

After a while of hiding Hermione, eating, and just being a quiet little Slytherin, there was finally some excitement at the party.

"Let... me... go... you... filthy... Squib!" Draco said loud enough for everyone to hear. He looked tired and pale.

He was struggling to get free of Filch's grasp. They had appeared just a second ago.

Filch reluctantly let him go, muttering, "If only it were legal to use to torture machines...."

Draco rubbed his now red wrists, looking around. I looked straight at him and we made eye contact. He quickly looked away.

'So busy,' I thought, 'and you still crash the party? '

"Slughorn, I found this boy wandering the halls, he claims to be gate-crashing," said Filch happily. "Thought you might want me to give him a detention."

"No, Filch, that won't be necessary," Slughorn said calmly.

"H-he's my date," I said, standing up from my seat.

"Oh, is he?" said Slughorn. "Sorry, Mr Malfoy, for the misunderstanding, you may join us now."

Draco walked over to me as Filch left.

"What was that for?" he asked.

"Am I not allowed to get you out of detention?" I responded.

"Malfoy, now," Snape said, walking up behind us.
