#20 Half a Heart

Hook and I were sitting in the pub, joking around with all the other pirates and their wenches. One of his crew members comes back and slams down another round of rum.

"My treat!" He yells. We all yell 'cheer' and clinked our mugs together. Hook downs his on the table.

"Did you enjoy that Captain?" yells Smee.

"Aye..." Wow, he is sooo drunk right now.

We all tell jokes and laugh. Tonight has been fun.

Hook stands up with Smee.

"I'm getting another round for everyone!" He stumbles to the bar.

Jack, his first mate, sits right next to me. The stench of alcohol floods from him.

"Is that a new dress?" He asks.

"Yes it is, Hook got it for me." I say while taking another swig of rum.

He threw his arm around me, "You look beautiful in anything."

"Your words are very flattering but just remeber that my heart belongs to Hook, not you." I say pulling his arm off of me.

"How about, you and me, go out back... and you know, have some fun?" He grabs my waist and pulls me closer to him.

"Stop" I stand up and try to go look for Hook.

"You made this easier for me." He grins and grabs my wrist, pulling me toward the door.

"Jack, you are very drunk. Do not make this mistake, not with me."

"It's fine, Hook won't know."

Someone turned him around violently.

"Hey, let go of her."

He punched him across the face. Jack came back with a violent tackle. The fell out of the door way, outside. Everyone scrambled to watch the fight.

"Hey!" I yelled.

Many violent hits went across both of their faces. Hook got on top of Jack and started beating the crap out of him.

"Hook! Stop! That's enough!" I stopped him before this got out of hand. I helped him up and wrapped my arms around his wait. "Let's go."

"Are you all right lass?" He asked.

"I'm fine. C'mon, let's go."

We walked all the way back to the ship without saying a word. We went down into his quarters. I help him get into his bed.

"Let me help you clean you up." I put a pillow behind his head, elevating him. I took a wet cloth and started dabbing at any blood that was on him.

"Thank you, you know, for standing up for me. I really appreciate it."

"Anything for my princess." He smiles, "Ow."

"Sorry, you have a huge bruise right under your eye."

"Oh well, it will heal. It was worth it."

I just chuckled and put away the folded cloth.

"Well I'm going to go back to the pub. Do you need anything else?"

"Can you sing for me?" He smiled.

"Now?" I asked.

"Yes, your voice is rather soothing and I would love to hear it before I pass out from liquor."

"Oh ok."

I sat next to his him. I rubbed his arm, rested my head on top of his, and begin to sing:

"So your friend's been telling me
You've been sleeping with my sweater
And that you can't stop missing me
Bet my friend's been telling you
I'm not doing much better
'Cause I'm missing half of me

And being here without you is like I'm waking up to

Only half a blue sky
Kinda there but not quite
I'm walking around with just one shoe
I'm half a heart without you
I'm half a girl at best,
With half an arrow in my chest
I miss everything we do,
I'm half a heart without you

Forget all we said that night
No, it doesn't even matter
'Cause we both got split in two
If you could spare an hour or so,
We'll go for lunch down by the river
We can really talk it through

And being here without you is like I'm waking up to

Only half a blue sky
Kinda there but not quite
I'm walking around with just one shoe
I'm half a heart without you
I'm half a girl at best,
With half an arrow in my chest
'Cause I miss everything we do,
I'm half a heart without you

Half a heart without you,
I'm half a heart without you

Though I try to get you out of my head
The truth is I got lost without you
And since then I've been waking up to

Only half a blue sky
Kinda there but not quite
I'm walking around with just one shoe
I'm half a heart without you
I'm half a girl at best
With half an arrow in my chest
I miss everything we do,
I'm half a heart without you

Without you, without you, half a heart without you
Without you, without you, I'm half a heart without you"

I looked down at noticed he fell asleep.

I kissed his forehead and blew out the candle. I decided that I wanted to stay with him. I curled up and drifted off to a peaceful sleep.
