#73 Starting Over

"Everybody outside!" Felix yelled.

I lifted my head off the cot.

"What?" I looked around and saw the boys all getting up quickly, "Hey- Devin, what's happening?"

"Pan's back" He jumped into his boots and ran out the tent door. Oh great.... He's back...

While pushing my hair to the side, I walked out confidently and joined the other lost boys. Pan and I have been arguing a lot recently, so it was nice to get a small break from him. It was nice while it lasted.

We all got in our straight line, tallest to shortest. We stood up straight and tall until Pan addressed us.

"Boys, I return to you with new boys that will learn from you all exactly how to be a lost boy, is that understood?" He paced in front of us.

"Yes," we all answered in unison.

"Okay, boys! Come on in!" He yelled. I knew what he was doing, he was putting on this 'tough guy' attitude to scare the newbies into following his every command.

After the silence, a group of five teens came walking into the camp. Two seemed intimidated, one didn't show any emotion, and the others seemed almost excited to be joining us. One of those two boys caught my attention, he was so mysterious but intriguing. His black fringed hair made his cloudy blue eyes stand out in the darkness of the camp.

"Boys, meet the lost boys." Pan stepped aside so that they could view us and vise versa. The boy with the striking eyes looked at us one by one, his eyes scanned over mine and continued on. I saw something in his gaze click and his eyes were back on mine. He must have thought I was a boy with my jacket on and hair up under my hat. A small grin appeared on his face causing my cheeks to heat up. Stop blushing Jenna, you just got out of a relationship awhile ago...

Before I knew it, the corners of my mouth curled into a slight smile. I bit my lips, hoping no one would notice.

He let out a slight chuckle which drew the attention of Pan. His intense stare went to the new boy which shut him up immediately. Pan followed his gaze to my eyes and froze. I felt a weird sensation pass through me, was it embarrassment or fright?

"Alright, Felix, show them their tent. Boys, remember we will be training early tomorrow morning so be ready. You are dismissed..."

I turned to return to my tent when someone grabbed my arm.

"What was that?" Pan asked.

"I'm sorry, what do you mean?" I pulled my arm out of his grasp.

"I saw the interaction between you and Emmet..." He growled.

"It was just a friendly glance." I crossed my arms.

"It was more than that-"

"Can you just drop this? It shouldn't even matter to you, not anymore..."

He remained quiet but kept his intense stare on me.

"Now if you would excuse me," I pushed past him and opened the tent door.

When I entered the room, the pair boys were all staring at me.

"What?" I snapped.

"Uh nothing, uh..." They all rambled on and went to their cots.

I just eye rolled as I plopped down back on to my cot. I let down my hair and sighed. I feel like I can never get a break.
