#23 Jar of Hearts

*Peter's POV*

I was leaning against a tree, playing my pipe with the boys dancing crazily around the fire. Hannah was leaning against me, tapping her foot to the rhythm. She would occasionally look up at me with her big brown eyes and smile.

I finished my song and all the boys either went to bed or socialized around the fire.

"So how are you liking it here on my island?" I asked looking down at her.

She sat up.

"I'm loving it here! Back at home, let's just say life wasn't as easy as it is now. I never want to leave!"

"That's good, because I don't want you to either." I smiled.

"Pan, why are you so nice to me, and not the others?" She tucked a hair behind her ear.

"Because, my dear Hannah, I have my reasons." I looked into her eyes. Our faces were only inches apart.

She closed her eyes and leaned in. I cupped her face and slightly leaned in when I heard something behind her.

I opened my eyes and saw my shadow hovering in the distance. It was summoning me.

Hannah opened her eyes and pulled back.

"Is something wrong?" She asked looking around.

"Uh, no love, how about you go to bed, and I will talk to you in the morning. I have to deal with something at the moment."

She looked embarrassed, I felt so bad.

"Oh, ok..." She got up and wouldn't make eye contact with me, "Well, good night..."

She walked away and into her tent. Ugh I'm such an idiot! she must of thought she did something wrong.

My shadow backed into the darkness. I got up and told Felix that he was in charge. He nodded understandingly and I walked to where I last saw the shadow.

"Do you need something?" I crossed my arms, looking up at it.

"Why is the girl still here?" It asked in its raspy voice.

"Hannah? She is here because she is lost and is an asset to the lost boys." I protected her.

"She needs to go." It said with a stern face.

"Why? She isn't affecting anything."

"She is affecting you, by her staying here, you grow weaker and weaker everyday."

"Look, I run this island and it is my decision wether she says here or not, and I chose she stays." I turned and strode away.

The next thing the shadow say made me freeze in her tracks.

"If she isn't gone by tomorrow night, I will kill her..."

"You wouldn't-" I turned and it was gone.

I know my shadow, and when he says he is going to do something, he does it.

Of course I don't want her to die. So now the challenge is, no matter how much this hurts me, how to get her to leave...

*Hannah's POV*

I laid down on my bed, staring at the ceiling. I probably looked so stupid in front of Peter. I scared him off! He wasn't ready I kiss me, so why did I lean in? Ugh, am I insane?!?

I thought he had equal feelings for me, but I truly don't even know now.

I think a good nights sleep will help.
