#58 A Hidden Cure

So today was training day, just like every other Wednesday. Pan always makes the Loat boys train and stay fit to be prepared for any battle. We were doing our morning run, following behind Pan as usual. I noticed he was breathing a little harder than normal. I just shrugged that thought off and kept running with Felix. Felix and I were always the faster runners of the group, I guess that helps our position of being Pan's right hand Lost Boys. Pan slowed down and rested his hands on his knees.

"Keep going, I need a break." He motioned for us to keep running. I was growing concerned because Pan never usually gets tired like this. Felix and I pulled over to the side with him.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"Of course," He tried to stand up straight, hiding that something was obviously wrong.

"You don't look too well Pan." Felix stated.

"I'm fine. Go catch up with the group."

"Are you sure?" I stepped forward, "If you aren't feeling well, I can walk you back-"

"I don't need anyone's help." He snapped. He saw my shocked expression and cleared his throat, "Now, go run with the boys and leave me alone."

Felix and I obeyed and ran down the path.

"That was strange." I said in between each breath.

"I agree," Felix ran in front of me just by a foot. "Something's not right. I can sense it."

We reached the lost boys who were by the finish line, the creek. When they saw us without Pan, they all seemed confused.

"Why did Pan stop?" someone asked.

"Um, he was... uh" I couldn't think of what to say to prevent rumors or ideas from spreading.

"He is tired so he needed to take a break. No more questions." Felix stated. Everyone nodded and went back to their conversations.

"Felix, I really don't feel comfortable leaving Pan out there all by himself." I slowly paced back and forth.

"I know, he seemed weaker than how he always is. Do you want me to go check on him?" He asked,

I nodded. Felix placed both hands on my shoulders.

"Don't worry Em, I'm sure he will be okay no matter what is happening to him." He looked into my eyes with sincerity.

"I know." gave him a fake smile. He turned and ran off. Felix is the only person who knows that I have feeling for Pan.

"Alright boys, head over to creek to freshen up." I shooed them off. They all groaned and headed off to bathe. I was double checking to make sure the camp was cleared when I heard a terrible shout.

"Emily!" I heard Felix yell.

"Felix!" I ran into the woods, "Where are you?!"

"Over here!" He replied.

I turned my head and spotted him crouching down. Pan was on the ground.

"What happened?!?" I dropped down next to him.

"I don't know, I found him like this. Help me with him." He said with concern. I nodded, something is terribly wrong.

We put Pan's arms around our shoulders and rushed him back to camp.

Some of the boys were already back and done, just lounging around.

"Slightly! Open Pan's door now!" I yelled.
