#42 Perfect Imperfections

"Wait for me!" I grabbed my cloak and chased after the lost boys, "Where are we going?"

Tim, an older lost boy, turned to me.

"We were ordered by Felix to go hunting." He crossed his arms. All the boys turned and did the same thing.

"Why didn't anybody tell me that we were going hunting?" I felt a little hurt.

"You see, it's simple. You are a girl, and girls can't hunt. "

"Excuse me?"

"Look, hunting is a boy's job, so go back to the camp and clean or what ever girls do." He towered over me and patted my head.

"Don't touch me." I pulled back too fast, causing me to stumble, "I'm going to prove you wrong, and you will regret saying that."

"What ever, don't hurt yourself trying too hard." They all laughed and  walked away.

Ugh I HATE it when boys think that they are so much better than girls. Girls can be strong too! I mean yeah, I admit that I am short. But just because I'm 5'4'' does not mean that I would not be able to keep up with them. I may also be really clumsy but still, when I put my mind to something, I go full out to achieve my goals. So I am going to prove to them that I can catch an animal and I will bring it back to camp just to see their sorry asses apologize to me.

After about an hour of walking around trying to find something to hunt, I spotted the lost boys up ahead of me. They were all huddled behind a big boulder. I scanned the forest ahead of them and saw a wild boar sniffing around. This was my chance to prove to them that I could catch it, and they will witness the whole thing. I crept forward with my bow ready to be drawn back.

I heard a boy whisper, "Is that Kristin?"

A smirk grew in my face while I heard them stirring about.

"Kristin! Don't take another step!" One quietly shouted.

I just shook that out of my head, they thought I was going to scare it or something. I drew back my arrow and stepped forward once more. I heard a loud click that made me lose control of the arrow. It shot forward and scared the pig away. In a matter of seconds, I was scooped up into a hanging net.

"Aw she scared away the pig!"

"Nice going Kristin."

"She ruins everything."

"Get me down." I called.

I heard the boys chuckling.

"Well, well ,well. Look what we caught boys." Tim said.

"A klutz?" Another said resulting in a wave of laughter. My cheeks turned bright red. I was sooo embarrassed.

"Please get me down." I begged.

"Fine." He swung his machete around, cutting the rope that was keeping me up. The trap fell to the ground. With a lot of effort, I finally got the net off of me and stood up.

Tim stepped forward and grabbed my arm.

"You see, I told you that you don't belong here." He said with harsh eyes.

I pulled my arm out of his grasp and ran as fast as I could. All I could hear was the boy's laughter growing louder and louder in my mind. Hot tears streamed down my face as I kicked some loose dirt in anger. I climbed up a tall tree and sat on a wider branch. I threw my head in my hands and cried even more.

"Kristin?" I heard from below me. I lifted my up a little and saw Pan standing there. I tried to cut off my emotions, I didn't want Pan to see me being weak.

"Um yes?" I sniffled.

"May I come up?"

"Sure." I wiped the tears off my cheeks quickly before he sat down next to me.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, it's stupid." I looked down at my hands and gave a fake laugh.

"Kristin, I know something isn't right. You can tell me." He placed his hand on my leg.

I looked into his eyes.

"I know..." The tears came back, "I hate m-myself."

I became a puddle of tears.

"Hey, hey no. Don't say that." He put his arm around me and pulled me to his chest.

"Its true... I am not helping anybody by being here and I ruin everything I touch... Why, Peter?"

"Why what?" He turned his head toward me.

"Why don't you just send me home already?" I sniffed.

He cupped my face and with his thumb, he wiped my tears away.

"Because Kristin, you see, your last statement is false. By being here you have helped me."

"How?" I looked up at him. We stared into each others eyes in a moment of silence.

"Because you have given me hope. Hope that I haven't had in a long time. Hope to love another person."

Before I knew it, our lips connected. He ran his finger through my brown hair.He pulled back.

"By the way Kristin, I will always love you and all your perfect imperfections."
