#67 Emmerson
"Goodnight darling," my mother kissed my forehead, "Your father and I will be back later."
"Do you have to go mother? I hate being alone." I pulled my comforter up.
"You aren't alone," She adjusted the lace on the top of my white night gown, "The maids are downstairs."
"But mother, they are boring, I want to go on adventures through the streets of London, or even better- new lands-"
"Oh hush, your story books have put wild thoughts in your head. Now get some sleep." She blew out the oil lamp next to me.
She walked out of my bedroom in her very elegant party gown.
Once I heard her leave, I hopped out of bed and grabbed a new book I received at the library. I went to the bench beneath my window.
"The story of the boy who never grew up..." I whispered the introduction page out loud.
I flipped through the pages and began reading the story. It was a short story about this teenage boy who lives on an island filled with one adventure after the next. that sounds like a place I would love to visit. I wish Peter Pan was real.
I flipped the page to see an illustration of the boy. He was tall with light brown hair and green eyes.
Wow, his eyes were a vibrant green like mine. I feel like I have seen this mysterious boy...
I heard scratching at my door. I walked to open the door to see my cat.
"Hi Penelope," I picked her up. She purred against me. I sat down back at the window and cuddled with her.
"Are you tired of being stuck in this house too?" I scratched under her chin. She meowed up at me, "Yeah, me too. I believe that there is somewhere out there calling to me, you know? I believe that- Oh I don't know what I believe anymore. My mom wants me to grow up but I just feel like I have this greater purpose-"
My double windows blew open letting in a cold draft. I placed Penelope down on the floor so that I could shut the windows. I grabbed the handle and saw something coming out of the corner of my eye. A figure was flying toward me with glowing yellow eyes. It flew right into my room and just stared at me.
"How strange..." I observed the floating shadow.
I reached out my hand to touch it, but it flinched back out the window.
"It's okay, I won't hurt you," I leaned out. The cold night air of London nipped at my nose.
It extended its hand. After I looked back at my cat hiding under my bed, I decided to let his mysterious figure take me away. We soared up into the clouds and it the matter of minutes, we arrived on an island. It was like magic...
The shadow dropped me off in the middle of many trees.
"Woah..." I scanned around the area, it was truly beautiful.
I saw a small light flickering a couple of trees away from me. Being my curious self, I walked toward it. Was it a fairy?
The ball of light heard a twig snack beneath me and began to fly off.
"Wait!" I yelled as I chased it, "Come back!"
After many minutes of running, I eventually lost the path of glittery light, but I did end up in a dark camp.
"Where am I?" I searched around but either the camp was abandoned or the campers just left.
"Who are you? Why are you here?" a voice said behind me.
"I- I'm lost and I just found this place." I said without turning around.
"What's your name?" he said.
"Emmerson..." I muttered.
"Wait, did you just say your name is Emmerson?"
I turned to face the unfamiliar voice. It was a boy with blonde hair.
"Yes, why?" I asked.
The boy stood there with a confused expression as if he was solving something in his head.
"Is everything alr-"
"Pan!" He yelled.
"Pan? Wait- as in Peter Pan?" I asked.
Someone appeared right next to the blonde guy. It was him, it was the Peter Pan from the story.
"It's her." He said.
Peter looked at me and froze. I couldn't read his emotions.
"W-what is your name?" He asked.
"Emmerson." I curtseyed quickly. I wanted to show my respect to the one and only Peter Pan
He stepped closer to me so that he was about two feet away from me. I examined his features, they were very similar to mine.
"It is you..." He whispered.
"Me? What did I do?" I took a step back.
"You don't know who I am, don't you?" he looked almost hurt.
"You're Peter Pan, right?"
"Yes," He turned, "I don't know why I thought you would remember me, you were just a baby when I first visited you."
"Wait, you know me?" I asked.
He walked up to me and took my hand.
"Emmerson, I'm your brother."
"What?" I stepped back, "Mother never told me-"
"Mother was ashamed of me so I ran away early on in my life and grew up on my own. I then found this island and have stayed here. Emmerson, you stay here with me. Start a new life."
"That sounds wonderful." I smiled as I have him a big hug. At first he didn't hug me back but then I felt his arms go around me. I have always felt so alone and now, I feel like I will never feel that way ever again.
Peter pulled back, "Now, let's go introduce you to the lost boys."
"Okay," I smiled as Peter and I walked into the trees.
(A/N: So this one was kind of short because I just wrote this with a 102 degree fever but I felt like I needed to update. So I'm really sorry if it wasn't the best quality :/
