Ch. 18: Fire and Fire

Shailene POV:

"So you mean this guy told you that he liked you and then he asked out another chick right in front of you face?" Megan asks me.

"Yep." I say.

Megan, Zoe, and I are in my room having a girls' night.

"That asshole." Megan says.

"I know right." Zoe says.

"We need some more ice cream." I say.

"Zoe, stay here. Shai and I will the ice cream." Megan says.

Zoe nods and we walk out.

Men stare at us.

"We are so attractive." I say sarcastically.

"Yes, because we look like models while we wear crop tops and shorts."

We laugh.

"Oh my flippin gosh! They have so much ice cream." Megan says and I laugh.

"Rocky Road, Cookie Dough, Vanilla." I say.

"This Theo guy sounds like a real asshole." Megan says.

I see Theo and Chloe.

"There they are." I say. "I'm gonna invite Chloe over."

"You go Shai! Don't let that bastard keep you down." Megan says a little too loud.

We giggle and walk over to Theo and Chloe.

"Hey lovebirds." I say.

"Hey." They reply.

"I don't think you've met Megan yet. She's my best friends."

"Nice to meet you."

"So Chloe, We are having a girls' night. Want to join?"

"Ah. Sorry. Me and Theo are..."

"It's okay. We'll see you around."

"Oh and Shai. Love your pixie cut." Chloe says.

"Thanks."

Megan and I walk away.

"We've been turned down." Megan says.

"Well...More Ice Cream For Us." I say and we laugh.

Theo POV:

"Theo. We can't do this anymore." Chloe says. "I know you still like Shailene and you know you still like Shailene."

I do like Shai. I like her a lot.

"I guess you're right." I say.

"Don't get me wrong Theo, you are sweet and nice. But it's not working. And asking me out right in front of her face was basically saying, 'Screw you, Shai.'"

"I know, I was being a total asshole."

Shailene and Megan walk past us.

"I've totally been saying that." Shailene says.

She runs her hand through her now short hair. Even with shorter her she's beautiful. And now she can't hide herself within her hair.

"Thanks Chloe." I say.

"No problem Theo. Now try and find a way to patch things up with Shai." Chloe says and walks away.
