Chapter 18

Gavin and i had gone out to get some food for tea when we get back. “What you in the mood for?” i asked as i drove. “Dunno, pizza maybe?” Gavin said. “Yeah” i said and stopped at the lights. When they turned green i drove and then went to a pizza place. We went in and ordered and then Gavin went to the shop next door and got us some drinks. I went to the car and got in placing the pizza on the passenger seat. I waited and then saw Gavin coming out with a bag full of bevs i would imagine. Gavin opened his door and i got the pizza so he could sit, “What you got in there handsome?” i asked ad he shut his door and i handed him the pizza. “Just some bevs to get us through the food” Gavin said. I sighed, “We don’t have to drink every night” i said. “I only got a few” Gavin said. “How many?” i asked. “3... each” Gavin said and looked down. “Gavin!” i said. “Sorry” Gavin complained. “You can have one tonight” i said and started up the car. “Aw wot!?” Gavin complained. “You heard” i said and began to drive home. “Why though!?” Gavin complained. “You wanna walk home?” i asked. “No... I don’t know the way from here” Gavin said small. “I thought as much” i said and the rest of the drive was silent.

We got home and went in. I set up the pizza on plates and Gavin took two beers into the lounge. “I said one” i said. “The other is for you” Gavin said innocently. “Oh, thanks Gav” i said and he sat down and turned on the TV. I went in with the pizza and gave him a plate and then i sat down and cuddled up to him. “I’m sorry i said only one but you need to control on what you drink, Gav” i said and ate my pizza. “I know, i will” Gavin said. “You won’t though, but I’ll help you” i said and kissed his cheek. “I’ll do it for you, love” he said eating his pizza. “Eat before you speak, i know you will” i said and he chuckled and coughed after. “Don’t die on me” i said which made him laugh more. “I won’t” Gavin said and took a sip of his beer. “You okay now?” i asked and he nodded. “I love you” Gavin said looking down at me. “I love you too Gavy” i said and we kissed. “Now we relax” i said and we ate our pizza watching whatever shit was on the TV.

I woke up to Gavin jumping up and down on the bed. “Gav, Gavin stop!!” i said. “Wake up and get ready, i have a surprise!” Gavin said. Gavin jumped down and ran out the room. “Man child!” i shouted and then got up and ready.

I came down the stairs and Gavin had made me breakfast. “Thanks, love” i said and sat down and ate eat. “What’s the rush, and the surprise?” i asked. “Well, been as though i can’t drive, you’re gonna have to drive is there” Gavin said and i nodded. “So, i thought it would be fun if we... brought a dog?” Gavin said. “Oh my god! Yes, come on let’s go now!” i said and ran to the door. “Okay” Gavin said and then we left and got in the car. We got there and we went inside. We got to the desk and Gavin held my hand. “Hello, how may I help you?” the lady at the desk said. “We’re looking to buy a dog” Gavin said. “Okay, come this way and i’ll show you where they are” she said and we followed her. “Any kind you want?” she asked. “You pick babe” Gavin said looking at me. “I like Dalmatians” i said. “Okay, this way” she said and we followed her and we went outside. I saw all the different dogs and i was happy. I saw other people looking and then we went into the Dalmatian pen. “Some have collars and they have names on and the others don’t. I’ll leave you to take a look” she said. “Thanks” Gavin and I both said and she left. Some dogs ran over and i knelt down and fussed them. “Hi” i said and giggled. “See one yet?” Gavin asked. I looked and saw one with its paws on Gavin’s chest. I got up and went over, I looked at it and it barked and liked my hand. “This one” i said. “Okay” Gavin said and i looked at him and he kissed me. “Excuse me, we’ll take this one” Gavin said and the lady came in. “Sure” she said and she put on a lead and handed it to Gavin. “Bring him” she said and we followed. “I wanna hold” i said and Gavin handed me the lead. “Him” i said to myself. “You got a name, Gav?” i asked as we walked back. “You pick, this is my present to you” Gavin said. We got to the desk and Gavin gave his details about him and then we learnt about the dog. “Have you got a name for him?” the lady said. I looked down at him, “Cody” i said and looked at back at her. “Cody, okay” she said and wrote it down. “I like it” Gavin said. “Okay, cash or card?” she asked. “Card” Gavin said and then he paid. “Is that a shop?” i asked pointing. “Yes, you can buy all dog needs, like balls, leads, bowls anything” she said and i went in. “Come on Cody” i said and we went in. I was looking and i grabbed a basket. I got a food bowl and a drink bowel. I saw a lead and i then got a collar. “When we leave we need to give the lead back” Gavin said when he came to me. “Okay” i said. “Go and get a bag of food and then pay for the lead and collar” i said and handed them to him. “Kay” he said and left. “See anything you like Cody?” i asked. He barked and got a chew toy of a bone. “Sure” i said and grabbed it then i put it in the basket. I grabbed a few more toys and then Gavin came over. “Here is 20, pay for them while i go put this in the car” Gavin said meaning the food. I gave him the keys and i got the lead. I went to the queue and i put the collar on Cody. I then gave the money and got the bag and change and left. I put the lead on Cody, put my money away and then gave in the lead and left to go back to the car with Cody. We out him in the boot and then drove home.

We put water in his bowl and then food in his food bowl and he ate. I put his toys in the lounge in a little box. I hung his lead on the kitchen door and sat down. “Gav!” i moaned and he came into the lounge. “Yeah?” he asked leaning on the back of the sofa. I looked back and grabbed his head pulling him in for a kiss. “Thank you” i said. “I thought it would be nice to get a dog” Gavin said. “It was” i said. “Cody!” i called and he ran in. “He learnt his name fast” Gavin said. “Let’s take a pic for Twitter” i said and Cody lay on my lap and Gavin sat next to me. “Selfie!” i said and took the photo. “New member to the house: Cody!” i said as i typed it on the tweet. “Done” i said. “Got it” Gavin said and re-tweeted it. “The fans are gonna love him” i said and stroked Cody. “They will” Gavin said. “Let’s go on a walk!” Gavin said and Cody barked getting up and following Gavin. “Okay” i said and we left the house. Going to show people, we saw Ray, Michael and Lindsay, Livvy and Caleb and Geoff and Griffon with Millie.
