I was happily humming a little tune I made up all on my own. I was out by myself gathering some berries. My stomach rumbled a bit, so I casually popped a berry into my mouth.
"Mmmmmm!" I couldn't help but to exclaim!
It was delicious! Much better than the meat I ate usually. It's not that I exactly hate meat or anything. It just gets a bit tiring eating it day in and day out. I like variety! And that's why, I was out here by myself picking berries and happily humming a merry little tune. Did I say that already? Well, important things must be repeated!
So, where was I? Oh yes, happily munching the berry I picked. Hmmmm! Oops, I got sidetracked again.
I was in a forest. Well, not much could be said about it. It was full of trees and cute little furry animals and the like. I lived here alone with my mother.
Who am I, you ask? Well.......
"Ray! Where did you sneak off to? Ray!" Whoops, I'm being called!
"Here I am!" Well, one must always respond to their mother when called. It's simply rude not to!
A whooshing sound overhead fluttered my hair about. The thumping sound of something large landed in front of me. Looking up, my eyes met hers. Who's her, you ask?
"Hello Mom!" I said as I smiled up at her.
Now, I know what you're thinking. What the heck am I if my own mother can fly about like it's nothing? In answer to that, I'm a simple child. Well, almost a full adult. My mother's the weird one, being able to fly and all! I'm not jealous at all!
Ah, my mother is a dragon. I've not met any others than her, but I swear she's the most beautiful dragon one could ever see. She has lovely irredecent scales that change color in the light. They also change color with her mood. For example, right now they show a lovely red color....Oh, I guess she's a bit mad at me. My smile faded from my face as she glared down at me.
"Ray! What on earth were you thinking, to sneak out of the nest like that? You're just a hatchling! What if some monster bigger than you decided you would make a nice snack?!" Wow, she sure is going to town with this scolding.
I bet you're confused now, hearing her call me a hatchling when I already mentioned my hair fluttering in the wind. Yep, that's right, dragons don't usually have hair! Well, I too questioned my mother about this, but that's when she told me she found me. That's right! I'm a human.
Well, I was just a baby when she found me. My mother has limited knowledge of humans. She has told me that we age much faster than dragons, our life span is much shorter. For example, hatchlings stay as hatchlings for 200 years or more! Human's are so puny that they die of old age before they even reach half of that. Sigh. I can't believe I will one day die of old age before I'm out of the hatchling faze! To be treated as a baby my entire life!
Oh, yeah! My mother was scolding me, right?
"Ah, um, well, you see," Ah geeze! I was panicking! Well, you try to have a dragon glare at you and see if you can remain calm! What was I trying to say again? Oh yeah! "Ah! That is, I'm not a true dragon! Which means, I grow much faster and am truly no longer a hatchling. Therefore, as humans age, I must at least be an adult by now."
I do believe my logic skills are divine! Who can refute that? Eh, what's that? You are unsure if I'm truly an adult human? Well, it's true that I've never seen an adult human before, but I've been alive for at least 10 years now! That's adult, right? Eh, who am I even talking to right now?
"Hmm." Ah, she's putting her mouth close to my face again! Last time she did that, she scooped me up and brought me back to the nest. Have you ever ridden in a dragon's mouth? It's not exactly enjoyable. Am I making a face here?
