Marquis Alexander Wyvernclaw slammed his hand on the table in front of him. Glaring harshly at the cowering servant in front of him, he drew a slow breath before releasing it again.
"Say that again." He ordered between his clenched teeth.
"My....my Lord. His Grace is searching for his missing granddaughter." The servant stuttered while looking at the floor.
"Since when has he had a granddaughter?!" Alexander ran his hand through his hair in frustration.
Although it was a small consolation that this granddaughter was missing, the fact that she even existed at all was messing with his plans. He had been working on these plans for the past fifteen years! This granddaughter could ruin everything!
He drew another calming breath before turning his harsh glare back towards the cowering servant. "We must locate this granddaughter first, BEFORE the grand duke. And we must find her discretely. Do not let anyone from the grand dukes faction know we are looking for her. Do we know her appearance?"
"Yes, my Lord. His Grace has sent out these flyers with a well drawn picture of her." He handed the paper over to the marques with his hand shaking.
The Marques snatched the paper from the trembling servant before looking at the drawing. As he saw the person in the drawing, his eyes widened.
"This girl!" The Marques exclaimed suddenly.
"My Lord, do you know this girl?" The servant asked hesitantly.
"Bring me Marcus immediately." He said instead of answering.
The servant ran from the room quickly to follow his order. Alexander drummed his fingers on the table impatiently as he waited.
Soon, the door was opened and a gruff looking man walked in. Without hesitation, he walked over to the table the marques sat at and kneeled to the floor.
"My Lord, you called for me?" The man asked humbly.
"Did you complete your task?" The Marques asked.
"I beg my Lord's forgiveness. I was about to complete the task given to me when the target dissapeared." The gruff man replied.
"This is not like you, Marcus. How did you lose the target?!" The Marques asked, his brows creasing and a scowl on his face.
"Forgive me, my Lord. I do have a lead. I promise I will acquire the target by tomorrow at the latest." Marcus promised quickly.
"You had better. This girl is more important than I had originally thought her to be. I NEED her captured, and I need her captured NOW! Do you understand me?" The Marques growled.
"I understand, my Lord." Marcus replied.
"You are dismissed. Find her quickly." Marcus gulped and nodded his head as he got up to leave the room.
The Marques thought back to the girl on the paper. She was drawn as a beautiful little girl. A button nose, beautiful big clear colored eyes that sparked with innocence. Honey colored golden locks that curled slightly as small tendrils drifted from the golden braid and framed her face. Rosey cheeks and full red lips. The girl he saw in the auction hall.
He remembered when he saw her just the day before. He had gone to the auction hall in order to acquire the elf slave. It had been advertised for months now and was finally going to be sold. He couldn't wait to acquire her and the strange magic she was said to possess. The power over plants was a rare gift indeed.
Just when she was brought to the stage, though, he saw her. The girl in the flyer, for just a brief second, appeared out of nowhere and disappeared with the elf girl in tow.
Although he had wanted to own the elf girl, he was more intrigued by the girl who stole her. She very obviously used space magic, one of the most rare magic in the world. It created a need in him to own her too.
He thought that need was unrealistic when she disappeared just like that. He doubted anyone else even got a real good look at her. He did, however.
He couldn't take his eyes off of the beautiful little girl until she disappeared in a blink of an eye. She had an ethereal beauty that he didn't want anyone to taint. He want to possess her not only for her magic, but her beauty that seemed unreal.
The picture did her no justice at all. It couldn't capture her true beauty. It couldn't capture her innocence. It couldnt preserve it as he wanted so desperately to do, although he couldn't figure out why he had this strange urge to protect her.
However, he had no idea where she had disappeared too. She was simply there one moment, and gone the next. Then, people began to shout at the unexpected event.
He had scoffed at their behaviour. Why scream as if something dangerous just occurred? They were screaming as if.....
And then it happened. A large gust of wind, almost a tornado, appeared as suddenly as the mysterious girl. It picked up people and began to throw them around. He was safe at the moment, as he was in a private room above everyone else.
His guards tried to get him to leave, and he started to, as well. However, he glanced down for a moment and was struck. The girl was down there. He had seen her when the wind whipped the hood from her cloak.
As the tornado headed in her direction, he sucked in a breath of air sharply. He stood against his guards who were desperately trying to pull him away. He couldn't tear his eyes away.
Suddenly, the girl lifted her arms and made a shooting motion. The Marques dropped his jaw in shock as the tornado obeyed her. Was she controlling the tornado? Didn't that mean that she had duel magic abilities?
"Marcus!" He yelled suddenly. A man jumped forward immediately.
The Marques pointed at the partially uncloaked young girl. "Capture that girl and bring her to me! Never mind those she's with, so long as you bring her to me quickly! Now go!"
He felt the desperate need to possess this girl and control her powers. With her on his side, even becoming the ruler of the entire continent didnt seem a far fetched goal. And when she became older, he would take her as his wife.
The Marques smiled as he thought of that. He wondered how she would feel to become a Marquess, or a Dutchess, no, a Queen! He promised he would make her his queen. He smiled as he left the auction house.
However, now he knew. He knew her for who she truly was. The granddaughter of the grand duke. He still intended to make her his. It might even expedite his plans.
He could marry the only remaining heir to the dukes house, then murder the duke quietly. He would become the grand duke and gain all his lands. It seemed much easier to accomplish his goal this way, than his more roundabout way.
However, his plans did not end with becoming a grand duke. This girl, too, deserved so much more. His dealings with the kingdom of Harloss were nearing the most important faze. However, he needed control of the grand duke before that could happen.
And this girl, his angel, was the perfect solution.
A/N I don't usually put these here, but just wanted to apologize for the short chapter.
