The sizzling sound of meat grilling filled the cave. I inhaled the smell of freshly grilled fish. Mhm! Almost done to perfection! Don't criticize me for loving food!
I love to eat like a flame dragon, meat sizzling while I eat. It used to be mom grilling it for me. But that was before I could use flame magic! Now I can grill all the meat I want! Let me just say that grilled meat is way better than raw!
Ever since my grounding began, Mom would check in every so often. Well, I would see her about once a week. I know what you're thinking. Why am I measuring time in weeks?
Well, in answer to your question, magic isn't mastered in a day! It takes a long time. And even now, I haven't fully mastered everything. It's been about two years since I felt the full brunt of the sun shining on my face! Although I can see the sky in the wind room, sometimes I just wanna roll around in the grass!
You know, come to think of it, I haven't seen mom in a few weeks. Maybe she's finally giving me some room. I wonder, should I be worried? I glanced over at the exit to this room.
Mom had originally blocked off the only other exit, allowing me access only to the training rooms. However, she eventually refurbished it a bit. There is a second exit that leads into the main den. However, this exit is impossible for me to reach. Or is it?
Hmm. As that thought entered my mind, I looked closer at the exit. She had positioned it in the ceiling of the lake cave. To be exact, it was in the dead center of the lake. Yep. Impossible.
I don't think I ever mentioned how large the lake truly is. In the semi dark atmosphere of the lake cave, it is hard to even see the lights from the glowing algea on the other side of the lake. I'm sure that it would take a couple hours to swim across the lake. If I didn't use magic, it would take really long time to go to the training rooms from where I was now, as I would have to swim across or walk around the enormous underground lake.
However, I am smart. I have fully mastered the basics, or so I would like to think. I was able to enter the other three training rooms in only a year and a half! Before, it took me several hours of following the paths to reach each training room. Now I could simply use space magic to teleport directly there! Praise me!
Space magic isn't really as easy as I make it seem. Usually, I can only teleport to a place in my line of sight. However, since I've lived in these training rooms for the past two years, I can freely teleport to the training rooms I'm so familiar with.
Speaking of teleporting, I suppose I could try to teleport to another portion of the den that I'm familiar with! In fact, why did I never think of this until now?! I'm sure if I just do a quick little teleport to check on mom's condition, she will understand. Yep! It's decided, let's do that!
I grabbed the fish off the floating flame I made and seasoned it with some freshly picked berries. Hey, don't knock it til you've tried it! The berries give the fish a uniquely sweet and tart taste which I quite like. It's not like I have any other seasonings in the den!
Ahem. I know, I know. I feel I should be worried after not seeing my mother in a few weeks. And yet, here I am, dillydallying around with my lunch. But, but! You simply cannot go around performing magic on an empty stomach! Besides, it's probably nothing to really worry about. If it was, I would have been worried after she didn't come back for a few days the first time I came to the training grounds! In the end, she just stuck me here of her own volition only to check up to see if I was still alive after an entire week went by! I could have died! She wouldn't have known until an entire week passed!
Ah, I know! I'm going, okay? I said I'll go! It's not like I'm nervous over using this magic in a way I haven't before! And it's not like I'm particularly scared to find that something really did happen to my mom! That's not it at all!
