Chapter 34: Zoo Part 2

"I can't believe how large lions are!" I point to the lion in front of me behind the glass.

He stares at me, blinking every few seconds, then he stands and sits back down.

"Yep, these guys can grow to be 10 feet long." a guy in a green shirt that reads 'San Diego Zoo' appears next to me, his tan skin leans up against the glass. His bright blue eyes stare into mine, his smile looks like it took 80 white strips to be that white and 10 years of braces the get that straight. His name tag reads 'Carson'

"That's awesome, c'mon Tori don't you wanna see the... polar.. otters.?" Jc starts to pull me away from the worker, I roll my eyes and snap my arm back to my body.

"That is cool, tell me more." I smile at him, I wasn't going to let Jc's jealousy get in the way of my learnings. Who cared if the worker was hot? Not me... Maybe a little.

"Well, I would but it looks like your partner is getting a little anxious to see the polar otters. Cya around." with a smile, Carson walks away.

I hear a faint growl from behind me, "C'mon Jc, he's just a worker."

"Yeah but-"

"No buts Jc, I'm dating you. Not the zookeeper, anyways what's next on the 'Things to do as a couple at the zoo' list?"

Jc grins widely and wraps his arm around my shoulder, "Matching shirts!"

"Isn't that a little cheesy?" I ask, even though I love the idea.

"That's kinda the idea Tor." he kisses my forehead and we walk onto the gift shop.

"What about this one?" Jc holds up a shirt that says 'Monkey's Uncle'

I roll my eyes and pick up one that says 'Flamingo Fancy'

Jc shakes his head, I pick up a random one.

He observes the shirt then nods, I turn it around. It reads 'Official Keeper of the Zoo'

I don't really understand why he wants this one, but instead of questioning I decide he could have okayed a worse one.

I grab a stuffed giraffe and hand it to Jc, he grabs a elephant and we ring them both up.

"Wait, where are Kian and Andrea? Didn't you say they're coming?" I ask Jc as he grabs the bag from the tired looking cashier.

"They're here, they just slept in."

I nod and we head out of the shop, my phone starts to vibrate in my pocket.

It's Kat.

"Hello?"

"Hey Tori, uhm... I just-" she was cut off by a crashing in the backround.

"Kat? Are you ok?"

I hear muffled whines and the blood drains from my face as I hear "You're dad is here and you need to come over before-"

"I'm coming, I'm coming!" I yell into the phone.

I grab Jc's hand and we sprint out of the park, when we finally reach the car we're both out of breath.

"Why... are... we... leaving?" he breaths, trying to catch his breath.

I crazily keep pulling on the locked door, "Kat's in trouble-" Jc unlocks the door and we climb in "-and my dad is looking for me."

Before he could respond we speed off, I text Connor we're leaving and I'll tell him why later. He says ok and when we reach the highway I grab Jc's hand and squeeze.

"It'll be ok Tori-" he squeezes my hand back "-I won't let him take you."
