"I regret nothing, everything happens for a reason" Jc smiles.

God, why'd he have to be so humble and perfect? I fake smile back at him, maybe Kat was wrong.

"What about you?"

The question caught me by surprise, "Me?"

"Yes you, do you have an regrets?"

I quickly shake my head, then reconsider. "Well, there is some thing I regret..."

"What is it?"

"I hate you!" I screamed at her, "Tori, calm down." My mother's silky voice usually calmed me down- now all I wanted to do was tape her mouth closed.

"No! This is your fault! I love him!" "Tori, your mother's right. Calm-"

"Oh shut up!-" I yelled at my stepfather "-you're such a nuisance to this! Don't you get it?! You both don't understand me or what you've done!"

I ran out of the living room and out the door as fast as my feet could carry me- all I could hear besides the wind in my ears was my mother's faint cries.

When I reached Todd's house I'm out of breath and beyond tired, I knocked loudly on the door. He lives alone so no one could bother us, a tall thin blonde opened the door. She stared at me in annoyance, she called Todd behind her and he comes running up- shirtless.

"One moment, babe" he said to the blonde, she smiled at him then looked at me. Before she turned she said under her breath "Slut"

I turned to Todd, "What the fuck?!"

He shrugged as if nothing had happened, "Since your parents didn't approve, I'd say we're over."

He slammed then door in my face without another word, "I got rid of that hoe" I heard him say.

I kicked his red mustang with my boot, hoping it would leave a mark later. I called my mother to come pick, she didn't ask for the story but replies with "Ok honey, be strong." and hung up.

10 minutes pass, then 20, then 30. My butt started to cramp at 40 from the uncomfortable sidewalk I was sitting on.

An hour later, after 5 voicemails a white car pulled up to me- it was my stepdad. "Get in the car-" he said sternly "-we have to go see your mother"

The rest of the week was a blurry, surgery after surgery the car accident had impaired her too far to fix. One sentence haunted me, spoken by my stepfather after the 9th surgery, "Your mother won't be coming home-ever"

The night my mother died, I threw a huge tantrum. I was home alone, listening to the loudest songs I had. I scribbled all over my diary, notebooks, and stick-notes "Your mother is dead, it's all because of you."

Jc stays silent after I finish my story, he sniffles a little. He pays the waitress without a word and we leave the restaurant.

In the car he lays his hand on my thigh, drawing small circles he whispers "It wasn't your fault Tori, it was never your fault."
