Chapter 57

AJ eventually coughed up where she was keeping Tori and Kat, Trevor and I raced over as fast as we would over to Kat's house.

As soon as we pulled up, I saw that the front door and my palms broke out into a sweat.

What if one of AJ's 'helpers' took them somewhere else? What if they're being tortured this very minute?! I swear to god if they even touch Tori-

Trevor breaks me out of my violent thoughts "Aren't you gonna go get them?!" he asks me, like I'm nuts for not running in.

I nods quickly and run into the dark house, standing in the doorway I could see her living room.

"Tori! T-"

I suddenly spot a chair and a bunch of rope surrounding it.

"Are they here?" Trevor's come from

behind me.

"No." I groan and throw my eyes to my eyes in exaggeration.

"Calm down Jc, they probably ripped the rope and are driving back to the house."

I roll my eyes, "Sure Trev."

How naïve can he be? Really.

"C'mon Jc, think logically. AJ was with you the whole time, did she have a phone on her?"

I pause.

"No... But-"

"Let's just go home, if they're not their then we'll figure it out from there."

His baby blue puppy eyes knock down my stubborn wall.

"Fine." I groan and jog back to the car.

Trevor climbs in after I throw it in reverse.

"They're gonna be there." he sings.

"Shut up." I huff, even though I know he's probably right...

I notice Tori's car as soon as we pull up to the street, Trevor perks up and smirks as he spots it a few seconds after me.

The smug little bastard better not say those 4 words.

Trevor opens but I dart inside before he could tempt me to punch him, "Tori!" I yell.

I see a little brunette peek her head out from the living room.

Her beautiful smile grows as she sees me running towards her.

I embrace her tiny figure, she snuggles her head into the nape of my neck and I breath in her vanilla bean scent.

"God I thought I lost you." I say to her, I take her soft face in my hands and kiss her like our lives depended on it.

As we pull apart, breathless, she whispers the 3 words that make my heart soar.

"I love you."

I grin like a total dope at her exclaim, "I love you too babe."

She blushes.

Kat comes in behind her, I expected to see her but not with teary red eyes.

"Jc I'm so sorry-"

I halt her sob, her eyes widen like I raised a gun to her.

That's not a funny connection Jc.

"Say no more." I embrace her and her shoulders lower.

"Thanks... I should get going." she cracks a small smile and heads towards the door.

"I'm taking your car Tori, you can pick it up tomorrow." she yells behind her then closes the door behind her.

Connor strolls in from his room, his eyes meet Tori's and he instantly darts them to the floor.

"Tori, I-"

Before he could say anything else she runs into an embrace, he stiffens. Then his face softens and he raises his hands to her back.

"It's ok, but don't try to kick me out again." she growls.

He laughs and nods.

She's all smiles, then it looks like something hit her as he smile turn into a frown- a depressing one.

"Jc, can I talk to you?-" she looks to Connor "-alone."

Connor raises his hands in defeat and slowly back up to his room.

"Is everything ok babe?" I ask her.

"No, actually."

She takes my hand and guides me to my bedroom.

She sits down and starts to fidget with how she should sit.

I sit down next to her, I notice her scoot a little to left away from me.

I place my hand on top of hers, she stares at my hand like I just laid a grenade on her puppy.

She slowly removes her hands as she begins to speak.

"I-I think we should take a break..."

I stand straight up and stare at her.

"What?! Why!"

"Look at us Jc!-" she stands up right next me and walks to the door, slamming it shut she finishes "-my best friend and I were almost killed and so were you because of your crazy ex! Who knows when the next one will come waltzing in through that door, maybe with a black sack read to ship one of us off to Iceland."

"If you really loved me you'd except me for my past." I mumble.

"It's not about love Jc!-" she throws her hands up and slams my door shut "-I'm saying that I've excepted your past for far too long. It was your past that almost got us both killed!"

"If it weren't for me you would be dead, I saved you from your dad Tori! You'd be in the nut house all over if it wasn't for me!" I yell.

I've done so much for her and she wants a break?!

"Jc-" she tries to calm me down but I'm beyond angry and confused.

"And what about that son of a bitch Aaron, huh? If it weren't for me, his room mate would have raped you! I saved you from so much Tori, you need me."

She takes a deep breath and looks straight at me.

"Let's not forget that the whole reason I was at Aaron's was because you deserted me because you couldn't handle the truth. The whole reason I was almost raped was because you left me-" she walks to the door and stands in the door way "-I don't need anyone Jc- especially not someone who left me." She slams my door shut, leaving me numb standing.

A few minutes later, the front door slams and a car engine starts.

Connor races in, his eyes crazed.

"Jc! What the hell is going on?!" he yells.

But his demand is so distant compared to the voice closer in my head.

She doesn't love you.

Coward.

You were just a phase.

Get over it!

"She doesn't love me..." I whisper, the words pinch my tongue.

"She what...?" Connor asks, trying to understand my pain.

"She's gone, because of me."
