Chapter 29

"So... he finally broke." is the first thing Jc says when he sees Connor and I.

Sentimental, I know. "Yep, Kat's not doing so hot ether. What are we gonna do?"

Jc shrugs, "Let them figure their shit out on their own, it's not our battle Tori."

I take a deep breath and let it out, he's right. I have been babysitting them... "I agree"

I push Connor off my lap gently, he grunts and curls up on the floor.

Jc helps me up and wraps me into a hug from behind.

"Wanna go cuddle?"

I chuckle, "Why not?"

"So... what are we gonna do today?" Jc exclaims, he draws little circles on the palm of my hand.

My head lies on his chest as we snuggle deeper into his bed, he smells of pinecones and mint.

"I don't know, the day is practically over... wanna bake brownies?"

Jc shrugs under me, "I can eat."

I chuckle, I climb off of him and scurry to the kitchen.

"Tor? Do you even know a recipe?"

I shake my head, "I was thinking we were gonna wing it."

"Ok, but when we get squishy brownies and salmonella, I'll just say 'we winged it' "

I laugh loudly as I collect all the ingredients.

Flour, eggs, milk... baking soda?

"No baking soda babe." Jc chuckles. I roll my eyes and put it back.

Before I can grab the next thing, Jc puts his hand on mine. "No pepper."

"Ok, they're done!" I squeal as I take out the hot cakes.

I sniff them in as I place them on the counter, they smell... awful. But I plaster a smile and throw one of the brownies on to a napkin and hand it to Jc.

"Don't breath it in- just eat."

Jc's eyes widen, but being the sweetheart he is, he pinches in nose and shoves the whole cake in his mouth.

He chews and chews, his face scrunched up in disgust. "A little too much salt... did you add pepper after I took it from you?!"

I don't meet his eye as I whistler suspiciously.

"Ok, now you taste-"

"Ok maybe I did add some pepper... I think we should make some new ones!"

I smile and swiftly throw out all the brownies, I turn around and without warning a brownie is stuffed in my mouth.

I decide to chew it and imminently regret it, the cake is beyond salty and spicy!

I spit it out quickly into the sink, Jc wraps his arms around me as I spit out the last chunk.

"Yuck. You're right, I should stick to Raman Noodles."

Jc chuckles making my whole body shake, I snuggle my head into his neck.

This is where I belong, with Jc. He starts to hum a song I don't recognize as I close my eyes and breath in his beautiful scent.
