Author's Note: This book is in the process of being edited. With it being my first, there are several things changing within the chapters, especially when it comes to the flow of dialogue since my writing has grown so much between this and my second book. The overall plot remains the same! Some chapters have been edited while others have not, so I hope you're still able to enjoy it. 💜

Nikolai's POV

My alarm clock sounded off causing a deep groan in response to the blaring sound coming from the nightstand.

"Alright, ALRIGHT!" I yelled loudly balling my hand into a fist preparing to hit it.

"Not so fast dear..." My father Melvin says  as he enters my room.

Shutting it off, he spoke. "Be more careful with your belongings, your mother and I pay good money you know?"

"Yes I am well aware. Dad, I am tired, may I have just another hour to rest? Thirty minutes at least?"

"No, plus this room is horrific. There's clothes, shoes, school books and papers scattered everywhere. Haven't you been home a month just about from university and you still haven't cleaned this room?"

I quickly interjected. "I just said I was tired. University was not a walk in the park and now dealing with work and duties at church? I am drained."

He shook his head while slightly smiling. "You're nineteen now, you're an adult with responsibilities. And let's not discuss school, because that C you decided to settle for in Chemistry just isn't good enough for me."

"Well, it may not be good enough for you but it's good enough for the nursing department, because a C is passing."

"Being sarcastic is such a childish trait, it is time to do better. And if you keep talking to me like that you won't be going to London with your mother." Melvin said before exiting the room.

Watching the door close, I walked over to my dresser, pulling out a sketch book full of clothing designs.

"Hmm. I never quite finished this one." I eyed a purple set drawn with a yellow shirt underneath.

"Time for Saturday service!" Melvin yelled loudly in the hallway as he passed by.

Sucking my teeth, I scoffed at the eagerness that filled his voice.

"I've got to get out of here.."
