Nikolai's POV
It was the end of January. The video for Willing and Able was officially wrapped and everyone was off seeing to their duties. Meetings, rehearsals, and designing filled our schedules, so it was just a typical day at Paisley Park.
"Let's remove this button here." I said to Marie as we secured the jacket on the mannequin. "He's gotta be able to move in this."
"Baby." Prince called out as he entered the room.
"Yes?"
"You have a phone call in my office." said Prince.
"A phone call? Okay let me go take it."
Prince's Office
"Hello this is Nikolai."
"Nikolai so glad we've gotten in touch with you. I'm Cheryl Burkes, creator of House of Valentina."
"House of Valentina? Oh my goodness I love your work!"
"And we love your work as well." Cheryl said. "Listen I know that you are Prince's designer but I was wondering would you like to collaborate on some pieces with us? I admire your approach to fashion, it's nothing like I've ever seen!"
"You want me to collaborate with you?" I asked in shocked. "Oh wow, uh..."
As much as I wanted to, I knew that I couldn't.
"Ms. Burke, I'm thrilled to be presented with such an offer but I definitely have my hands full here in Minnesota. I'm so sorry but now isn't the time."
"Well dear how about this. When or if the time comes I'd like you to contact me anytime. We'd just love to work with you. Please, take my contact information down."
"Thank you so much Ms. Burke, again really this is an honor." I said after taking down her information on a sticky note.
"Please dear call me Cheryl, bye bye now."
"Wow..." I sighed out as I hung up the phone. I took the note and folded it, sliding it into my pocket.

"What was that all about?" Prince asked as I stepped back into the room.
"You guys wouldn't believe it but, it was Cheryl Burkes!"
"Creator of House of Valentina?" Marie paused quickly as her eyes widened.
"Yes!! She asked me to collaborate with her, she's seen all of my work so far and she loves it!"
"What did you say?"
"Uh yes what did you tell her?" Prince blurted as he eased closer to me.
"I told her no." I said with a disappointed look. "It just isn't the time, besides I have my hands full with this guy."
Prince leaned over and kissed my cheek.
"You better had told her no." He chuckled deeply. "You belong to me and I can't have nobody jeopardizing that!"
"Prince you're so funny sometimes."
